Re: A few issues

Wow after that I would be plain sick I've noticed between using testors and tamiya paints the difference in the amount of fumes so I guess I'm not too shocked that would be possible...

Yes i think that what did it in was the fumes of the paint products.
Oh well i learned the hard way on that one...and yes it made me not want to build another model for a few years.
The one thing i notice is even to this day i'm still learning new things about model building....Really enjoy it too when i have the chance to build them.

Re: A few issues

Folks,
Forgive my ingnorance, but is the booklet download offering worthwhile info or not? I have not built any models for about 100 years but have a few I'm planning on working on in the next few months.

Skunky, I know you are usually flippant just for the sake of being flippant, which is fine. I also recall some of your posts have shown pictures of some fantastic models you have built so you are clearly fairly conversant in model building. If you are indicating that the "modeling for dummies" book is over valued, even when it's free, then I won't bother to read it. However, it sounds like just the kind of thing that would be a great tool for a complete novice like myself.

Unfortunately in this case, I can't tell from your remarks if this modelling for dummies (i.e. me!) book is going to lead me down a bunch of bad tracks or not?

Sorry to post something so sobering considering the other posts offered, but if there is a worthwhile guide out there I could use it.

Okay,Jeff, if there's one thing I can assure you of it's this. If "the Artist Formerly Known As Historical Bob" recommends it, it's got to be great. He probably wrote the entire thing himself (and if not, he should have).

Bob is the unrivaled guru of plastic modeling. His works can often be found in the pages of Finescale Modeler magazine. My stuff isn't even worthy of occupying his scrap pile.

What more can I say?...Not much, because it makes me sick to have to say these things about the guy. I'm much more comfortable tormenting him, of course.

SO...before you read another post I would get over there and download that thing before Bob jacks the price up any more (even though I'm certain it would be worth it, I just absolutely can't bear the idea of him being filthy rich as well as being an outstanding maker of models, not to mention he gets to fly helicopters for a living...He's such a jerk!.. ).

Re: A few issues

Warhawk,
Hey there.

Packed away somewhere I've got a P-61 and a F-20 that I found somewhere. I've also got a few smaller scale planes. Nothing special, all picked up on sale. I needed something to satisfy my airplane jones. Then I discovered the forum and sadly, the model's have languished.

Skunky, thanks for recommendation. As far as my model building goes, I'm just hoping to get the wings on correctly. Anything beyond that is gravy. <G>
