Re: creating a wood look

..... ......You made those, planenuts? Whoa ... we’re talkin’ impressive, with a CAPITAL ‘IM’!

Thanks Gort That is a 1/48 Eduard kit. I used to be into models in a serious way. A little more that a year ago I just lost the ambition and interest in building....thus diecast! I do some tweaking to the diecast I get, but that's all the patience I have for it any more

Re: creating a wood look

Thanks guys! I hope Admin is successful in linking this site to EVERY search engine. I wouldn't want anyone w/an internet hook-up to miss your kind comments!
I told you on MHI that I started to sell "you know what" to a fertility clinic so I could afford to get all the new stuff. Tri-motor was interested in buying some so.....

Disclaimer:
I have no idea why Tri-motor wants it. What he does with it is his business. I thought wanting a picture of it was a little.....different? But you have to know Tri-motor like I do.

Work of art, planenuts! I know you gave your reasons of going to diecast, but it seems to me it would be hard, no comparison in the quality!

That's just the best 1/72 scale work I've seen for a while! It's really amazing, pn!

Great looking woodwork there...
You mind telling me how long did it take you to make that kit?

Re: creating a wood look

It only took Fed-Ex 3 days to destroy it!. Planenuts sent me this a 2 other models as a gift. Despite his packaging efforts I got a pile of plastic!

Thanks Starman. If I remember correctly it took me about a week working several hours a night. A lot of the time is in the camo on the wings which are decals, the rigging, cockpit detail and the photo etched machine guns which were VERY tedious. The wood painting went faster than I thought it would. And see the little air scoops on the spinner? Those are little photo etched pieces.
