Minichamps Tiger Questions

Just bought a T34 (Captured: German Livery Russia, 1943) and looking into Minichamps Tigers.
How accurate is Minichamps's Tiger?
Also, does the city camo really exist? I did some search and could not find any record of it.
Thanks.

I would go for the King tiger as it the pick of the bunch

Welcome to the forum clone_viper. While I agree with Martin Baker, if it is the Tiger 1 you want, your choice would be between the Minichamps and Dragon 1/35s. While some have commented on the lack of accuracy of the Minichamps Tiger 1, it still looks like a Tiger and feels a lot more hefty than the Dragon.

Re: Minichamps Tiger Questions

I do have 2 Minichamps Tiger I and I think they are great. Unfortunately I do not own any Dragon models so I can´t compare their details.
But I like the detail and the weight of the MC alot

Also got some T34, Leopard 2, Jagdpanther and some Sherman

Re: Minichamps Tiger Questions

Thanks for the reply, guys.
I saw the picture of Minichamp's King Tiger, it is a great model. However, with the price tag 200-300, I do not think my wife will approve that budget
I heard the 2nd realease of King Tiger is coming soon, but the camo seems not right.
The only tiger I can find right now is the city camo one, but not sure I will get it since the camo is a little strange.

Re: Minichamps Tiger Questions

In the US you can still pick up a couple of versions of the Tiger for under $100. All Minichamps are mid-production versions of the Tiger.

With regard to the KT, I agree that the original livery is far superior to the new one. But if you are OK with the new version Diecast Direct is still taking pre-orders at about $80 a pop.

Re: Minichamps Tiger Questions

Go with recent Dragon ones or the first ones released, including the "pazner grey". In my view, they are vastly superior to Minichamps efforts, which feature questionable liveries like the "panzer grey" on mid-production Tiger I. However, if you prefer to collect based on model's weight rather than accuracy and level of detail, then Minichamps Tiger I will fit the bill nicely.

Regards,

Sergey

Interesting comments Sergey, and accurate. I have to say that in terms of liveries and new models Dragon does have it covered. I like their Panthers but I unhappily haven't seen any Dragon 1/35s locally. I think that for some though, it's not necessarily accuracy, they want diecast. In this respect Minichamps has Dragon beat.

If we are talking 1:35 scale, then I prefer Tamiya Masterworks Tiger I to anything on the market, but they are tough to find at a good price and assembly quality could be iffy. However, I have not been overly impressed with any 1:35 pre-built model so far due to the absence of interior detail, engine, and drivetrain. Thank you, but I'll stick with my 1:72 Dragons here.

Regards,

Sergey

Re: Minichamps Tiger Questions

detail v.s. weight, that is difficult decision to make Maybe I should wait a little longer and get a Minichamp's jagdpanther first.
