Do minichamps diecast tanks rust at all?

Do minichamps diecast tanks rust? I read the thread about the treads not rusting, but what about the rest of the body? What exactly are they made up of, aluminum? iron? a special cocktail of metals?

Re: Do minichamps diecast tanks rust at all?

Hi mate that's a bold question to ask. It better not considering the prices they are tagged.

However my two radio antenna in the M1A2SEP did rust and I cleaned them then repainted them with rattle can spray.
Not a big deal since they are colored all black. ever since repainting them they never show any sign of rusting. I'm glad I took action early.

I'm waiting for the local dealer to import the T-72. It looks sweet. Suspension is the magic word that charms me into buying Minichamps tanks. Though I've found that compared with a pro built model kit, the immersion of paint job is much less.

Anyone can answer Soviet question? Does any Minichamps tanks' body show/will show any
sign of rust?

Rusting is oxidation of the metals, I seem to recall that diecast metal models are made from an alloy of zinc and some other metals?? (Zamec or Zymec or something?? someone can correct me!) This alloy would be far less prone to oxidation than say iron based metals (steel) and I think since they are not welded and are painted as well, would be unlikely to rust. I am not a metallurgist though!.....
