Is the silver track prone to rust? Humid tropics woe?

I noticed that my Minichamps tanks come with silver tracks. Are they painted silver or were they left unpainted(bare)?

My concern is that since I live the the humid tropics I worry that those bare tracks are prone to rust.

The radio antennas on my M1A2SEP tank already showed some sign of rust and I had the rust cleaned and repainted them.

If the tracks are indeed left unpainted or bare what can I do to protect them against rust. If I should paint them what is the best method without messing with the wheels since I'm not aware of any way to disassemble them.

I dont know about them being prone to rust, but IMO I would leave them alone. I think it would add some character if they do rust.

Maybe a rust wash would add some character but real ones? Ouch that kinda gross don't you think? And it degrades the structural integrity of the track. A snapped metal chain tracks? That would be my Minichamps nightmare.

Don't worry about the tracks.

They are made from Die-Cast white metal and it will not rust unless soaked in the Dead Sea.

Hope that helps!

Yup, I could have had that...............

Thanks Klussdog, glad now that I know that my money was well spent .

I just couldn't stop thinking that the track might be prone to rust now I'm at peace to leave the tanks out in the garden.............................okay that was a joke
