Re: What TANK would you like Minichamps to do for their next model release?

I've thought about this some more and I'd be tempted to buy a Gepard more than any other. A Gepard is attractive because of the many details topside around the turret, the guns and the radar dish in the back of the turret.
If they did a Gepard, the next logical thing would be to also make the Beaver bridgelayer, as well as perhaps the Bergepanzer recovery vehicle with crane. The Badger with blade and bucket would tempt me to buy as well. The bridgelayer would be awesome though.
Of course, if they did all that, they might as well make the Leo I MBT, although that would tempt me less than either the Gepard or the bridgelayer.
All of these vehicle share the same basic chassis, so that might help in regard to production costs.

Gepard

Beaver

Bergepanzer

Badger

Here's a short, 16 second YouTube video that shows a Fuchs, followed by a Badger, followed by a Beaver.

Indeed, where?

If they did the bridgelayer, with the bridge sections presumably in metal (a must), it would make one heavy model.

Tell me collectors wouldn't buy them. Minichamps couldn't produce them fast enough. That whole series would sell like hotcakes.

Being a German Tank, I reckon that a Minichamps Leopard 1 is a certainty at some time in the future, although I cant really see them getting around too these specialist types anytime soon, as great as it would be. They seem to be content producing new types and re-paints, rather than variations and sub-types, which is a bit of a shame, but no big deal for me.

Well, I would certainly love to see Minichamps conjure up a Merkava, Leclerc and Gepard in the near future. But definitely not a Churchill! If Minichamps plan to go British, I hope they opt for a Mathilda or a Chieftain.

91ken - Very cool and awesome pix!

Honestly, I'm rather surprised that there's no diecast Chieftain in the market. I would love to have one in 1:32 or 1:35 scale. It is afterall the mainstay of the British armour for long periods during the Cold War.

Re: What TANK would you like Minichamps to do for their next model release?

i like minichamps to do a german ww2 mark iv ausf.d with short barell and ausf.f,h-with long barrell
as one forum member said they milk the mold for every varient of the same tank that they can get.
i am into modelrailroading-o gauge-one of our topics was cost of a diecast mold to produce 1 engine-
it is roughly half a million dollars and more to produce 1 mold to produce one type of steam engine-and this is done in china
-a mark iv would be perfect for minichamps to produce and offset the costs as there are many varients of ww2 german mark iv's to produce
in different theaters of ww2.long barrell, short barrel, extra armor frontal plate.did you know the exhaust systems on minichamp tanks are plastic as are the wheels.they still have thew highest rate of diecast compared to fov.only the bottom hull is diecast.
thanks joe,

Re: What TANK would you like Minichamps to do for their next model release?

I'd definately like them to do some more Cold War Russian stuff, and I think a T-55 would be an excellent choice - tons of schemes to pick from. But I usually feel that different schemes tend to be a problem for Minichamps - it sometimes seems like they are more likely to bring out a new casting than a new scheme. That they don't "milk" their castings as much is great for their value, but sometimes I do feel it might be a better idea to exploit those very expensive molds a bit more - an European Abrams, Iraqi T-72 and Israeli Centurion would be obvious choices in my book, as would be a Leopard II revised to A6 standard, or a King Tiger with Porsche turret. I really like most of the suggestions posted here, but I think a Leclerc, Chieftain or Gepard would probably not appeal to enough people, definately if they are to spawn multiple schemes. Something more universal, which will appeal to a wide range of collectors (e.g., in Cold War Europe, Vietnam, Middle East schemes, etc), would seem like a better bet to me - particularly if they release each version in only limted quantities.

Anyway, please roll on more Minichamps armour - you can never have enough of these!
