Re: Your favorite WWII and modern Minichamps tank

The Jagdpanther is sure awesome imo.

For modern tanks I've changed my mind now that I see my Centurion standing side by side with the Hellenic Leo and M1....well perhaps this sounds weird but I really do like the Centurion better than the other two.

Believe it or not I think Minichamps has got better. Earlier tank while having a class of their own feels a bit lacking in terms of the surrealism it offers to our eyes. The Centurion is more like a model than a tank toy model imo. Perhaps the black track did the magic trick. And no it's not because of the hype of just having bought it.

I mean if you photographed the M1 or even the Leo on some low grassy ground you would instantly knew that you were seeing a tank toy model however with the Centurion it would take some seconds if not minutes to figure out it was a scaled model given a believable background setting . It's nearing the perfection of a model kit albeit without the weathering. If you check against some real Centurion pictures.

Perhaps the T72 would replace the Centurion as being my favorite Minichamps model. I don't have the T-72 currently. We are not seeing anyone nominating it as their favorite though.

The Panther edges out the Jagdpanther for WW II.

The Leopard gets my nod in the modern class.

The most underrated are the T-34/76's.

Re: Your favorite WWII and modern Minichamps tank

I've seen the MC East German T72 and although it looks good it isn't one of my favourites - the one I saw also suffered from the dreaded 'barrel droop' syndrome .

Interesting comments around the T72. I'd hate to get one with barrel droop. You don't see these often on ebay but I saw two recently and the both went for well over $100.

Re: Your favorite WWII and modern Minichamps tank

I might be in the minority here, but I loathe Minichamps with a passion!! I think they are too 'pristine', too 'gawdy', and not very accurate. Their steel treads are not very realistic whatsoever. I'll put my Forces of Valor, 1st release WW2 armor, some of my 21st Century 'Cold Steel', my King & Country, New Model Army, or William Britains (all 3 of these companies produce resin/crushed stone vehicles) up against ANY Minichamps tank and these will squash them like a centipede!!

Looking forward to annoying the 'former' Florida Diecast Forum members!!

....Hmm perhaps it is understandable however imo their newer models like the Centurion is a notch above the previous releases in terms of accuracy. No more silver tracks.
However it's still pristine looking but no big deal if you like weathered tanks you can always apply some mud(real or not) onto the hull, wheels and tracks...also a few leaves and branches.
