Tiger and Sherman

I got the King Tiger and the D-day sherman. The King tiger is everything i dreamed of, heavy metal feel, extremely detailed, smooth wheel suspension.

However, the sherman is somewhat pale in comparsion, the machine gun is in silver ; the wheel suspension is sticky on the right side...

By the way, I guess a lot of ppl has jumped to the more affordable 1:32 plastic tanks and abandoned the expensive Minichamps, am I correct?

Re: Tiger and Sherman

Not me...just waiting for some more Minichamps to be released. FOV and the others simply don't compare, IMO. These are real diecast.

Question Re: Tiger and Sherman

I agree Mr.F, I bought one FOV Tiger and sold it not long after.
It was a toy compared to my Minichamps!

Re: Tiger and Sherman

I agreed that Minichamps is better in quality. However, I think ppl are scared away by its cost. As we can see here, a lot less ppl participated in Minichamps discussions.

Re: Tiger and Sherman

Here's a few possibilities as to why:

1) There aren't as many models to talk about
2) They aren't as popular due to price or shiny tracks
3) They don't produce 20+ models every quarter
4) They have a larger scale
5) Many people are Philistines
6) Mostly German themed - only 3 Shermans for you disturbed, Yank-Tank lovers

Feel free to add anything I may have forgotten!

Re: Tiger and Sherman

Minichamps are top notch. I have the first (US) edition Tiger, Panther and Jagdpanther. All are among my favorite pieces.

The T-34s are very nice as well.

Re: Tiger and Sherman

I believe that part of the problem is scale. 99% of my aircraft and all of my armor are 1:72 scale. I am just now starting to add a few high quality 1:48 aircraft to my collection. I like to be able to see the size differences, say between a Tiger and it's nemesis the Typhoon. Would not even consider a third different scale model no matter how good the quality. Just not enough space for what I have now.

Re: Tiger and Sherman

I do like the Minichamps line, but, like already mentioned, cost and size prohibit me from getting one. I also stay mainly with 1/72. However, no one can dispute that Minichamps makes a great line of tanks.

Thumbs up Re: Tiger and Sherman

I won a Sherman over the weekend. Hope I'll like it. I do have a Panther and Leopard. Great diecast! Love 'em.
