R01 Panther (aka 'Minichamps 'Holy Grail')

Have you ever had one of those days when you weren't intending to buy any die-cast and then time and circumstance conspire to present a great and unexpected opportunity that cannot be passed up . Well today happened to be one of those days - I walked into a hobby store to browse, with no intention of parting with scarce finances, and what was the first thing I noticed in the display case but a Minichamps R01 Panther that had apparently only arrived a few days previously (how and from where I know not) . Approximately US$105 later and it was added to my collection (will accompany my winter/snow Leopard2A4) - to say I'm happy would be something of an understatement ...

Congrats and well done. And to think some people don't believe in miracles.
I think I paid close to US $300 by the time I got it here to Aus.
But I love it
I've got most of of the earlier issues (tigers, panthers, jagdpanthers) if you interested, just send a pm.

Wow! Talk about an early Christmas!

Nice grab! This is a model that has now been sold out for over 5 years, and you found it in a shop? Very fortunate indeed. I bet you'll be popping in there more often now, eh?

That's great! I've been thinking of picking up a Panther as well (along with a Jagdpanther, I'm a sucker for the design)--how's the "feel" of it, and what livery did you get, if you mind me asking?

The 'feel' of a Minichamps tank model is second-to-none.

It is real diecast. It's got heft. Yet Minichamps has Tamiya-like detail. Metal tracks, working suspension.

The livery is an 'ambush' type pattern. Showroom new.

One note: This particular model is the only Minichamps Armor model without the usual 2 screwholes at the bottom (where it screws into the styrofoam packaging).

Good to know. I just spent $86 on a new yellow-livery Minichamps Tiger I, so I'm cutting back a bit, but I'm trying to decide between a Jagdpanther or a normal Panther...it's a tough call, but it's good to see that the Panther is everything you'd hoped it was.

Re: R01 Panther (aka 'Minichamps 'Holy Grail')

I'd like to see Minichamps do a Winter Panther/Tiger like they did with the Winter Jagdpanther (which is one of my all-time favorites).
