1/32 Tiger and Jagdpanther

Hey. I've been asking around the FOV section for a good 1/35 or 1/32 scale Tiger I and perhaps a Jagdpanther (I guess I'm a sucker for the 88mm). A few people recommended Minichamps if you can get around the considerable expense.

Can anyone give me some recommendations on the Tiger or Jagdpanther, or any similar Minichamps pieces?

Unfortunately, any livery released so far are difficult to find. One might consider himself lucky if he can score any Minichamps Tiger or Jagtiger for MSRP.

One has to realize that there are a lot of Minichamps collectors in the world (Minichamps is an undisputed leader in mass produced 1:43 scale models and Formula 1 1:18 models), who'll simply buy anything tha has Minichamps logo on it.

Regards,

Sergey

Ah, I've seen a few places that have it available (not for cheap though). I meant more along the lines of the quality of the model--like what hatches are openable, etc.

The assembly quality is great and the materials used in production are top notch. However, nothing opens, and if I remember correctly one paint scheme is incorrect for late production Tiger.

Re: 1/32 Tiger and Jagdpanther

Minichamps are prized pieces in my collection.

They're special because they're real diecast. Like a Tamiya model made of real diecast metal, quality diecast. Good stuff. Showroom new, not weathered which is a turnoff for some, but damn they look and feel impressive.

Ohh yeah!
They sure are pretty to look at!
I think you should buy some

Good luck getting the older issues without selling an organ or two though. I am still chasing a few!

I've looked at a few myself....they have a distinctly "parade form" look about them. You can practically imagine the commander standing straight up out of the turret for photographs, hah. Plus, there are some nice colors.

In any case, I've decided to put aside my grand schemes for upgrading my computer in favor of more down-to-earth purchases, such as a nice Tiger or Jagdpanther.

Good lad!

May I suggest the "Das Reich" Tiger, still plenty about and should be reasonably cheap - comparatively

It's cheap because it's historically incorrect. Late production Tiger in panzer blue. That's definitely never happened.

That's the one with the gray and brown-striped livery, right? I think I've seen it....not bad, though there are a lot of nice other colors. If it's cheaper, though, that could be the deciding factor.

The solid-yellow "late" Tiger I is also very nice...but a bit more expensive. Still, seeing how I can't really buy another one, best pick one I like, right?

I've been using these as reference pictures...they're much nicer than most advertisements on sites that sell them!

I've been looking at Jagdpanthers...I spotted a very cool winter model on eBay, the problem was that it's rarity had driven the price past $120, heh.

EDIT: Not to toot my own horn, but I purchased a Tiger I #10000 (the factory yellow livery) for $85....though I have to deal with the inconvenience of sending a money order (bah...).

I'll post a picture when it comes in, assuming nothing goes horribly, horribly awry.
