Re: 1/32 Tiger and Jagdpanther

Hey. I've been asking around the FOV section for a good 1/35 or 1/32 scale Tiger I and perhaps a Jagdpanther (I guess I'm a sucker for the 88mm). A few people recommended Minichamps if you can get around the considerable expense.

Can anyone give me some recommendations on the Tiger or Jagdpanther, or any similar Minichamps pieces?

I have some minichamps that I'm selling now and over the next few weeks on evilbay or you could pm if interested.
All mint and boxed. Some first and second releases as well.

I have copied your post to the classifieds section BGM. Anyone wanting to discuss what you have, etc., can do so there.

Re: 1/32 Tiger and Jagdpanther

Finally got my 1/32 Tiger...and let me just say, it's gorgeous. Totally worth $86 (includding S&H). It's actually a little bigger than I was expecting (always a good thing), and I was really wowed by the finish and the independent suspension on the wheels, not to mention the detail on the treads (though I suspect that, unless I handle it with extreme care, those will be the first things to go).

I should snap a few pictures or something...very, VERY nice.

Re: 1/32 Tiger and Jagdpanther

It's cheap because it's historically incorrect. Late production Tiger in panzer blue. That's definitely never happened.

This is an EARLY PRODICTION Tiger I, NOT LATE ONE as modelled by Minichamps. Quite a few of the early ones produced in late-1942 were in fact painted in Panzer grey, but not a single late one as done by Minichamps.

Even "frankenstein" monsters of Tiger Gruppe Fehrmann from spring 1945 had late war "camo" schemes.

Sergey

Agreed, just as all late Tiger I's had zimmerit, which I believe, Minichamps Tigers don't have either..

This is actually a common misconception, since most of Zimmerit coating was applied in the field quite a few late Tiger Is didn't get it while the few early and mid-production survivors had Zimmerit paste appplied. It should also be noted that Zimmerit had a tendency to fall off much like plaster.

That being said I would like to see some Tiger Gruppe Fehrmann machines properly executed.

Sergye

Not meaning to argue, but wouldn't it have the Feifel filters if it was an early production panzer?

What signifies this as being an early production model?

There are a few things that differentiate early-mid-late production Tigers from each other with Feifel filter being present on ALL Tiger Is produced between November 1942 and 1943. Feifel was a "tropical" air filtering system, which was of little use when the decision to eliminate this feature was taken.

The combination of Panzer grey paint, Smoke dispensers, rubber-rimmed wheels, commander's cupola, Feifel Filter, two Notek lights, and I think different muzzle brake (well, at least it should be) clearly indicate this GD Tiger I to be an early production sample.

Sergey
