Tarheel P-40 Custom II

Thanks for the info and tip from HotTrap i wanted to give it a try with a old MB P-40 laying around.
I still want to do some weathering to it.
But the Tally Ho decals are really great.

Looks AWESOME Starman! We've got the only 2 of these that I know of. Did the conversion go okay?

Wish I had the modelling talent to be able to do mods like that - looks great!

It's easily done, Spinnaker. TIP: To remove the original pad printed graphics, just use a Q-tip swab and dip in acetone based solution. Viola!

Only two...Now that a limited Edition
It was pretty easy to do i took a Qtip with some thinner to take the padded graphics off the fuselage and lightly wet sanded the fuselage. I then used a ModelMaster OD spray paint for the fuselage and then used a little glosscote(Testors)so the decals will stick to the surface (These are great decals by the way...first time i used them) and then gloss coated it again.
After that it was two light coats of dullcote(Testors).
Only thing i had to do was the underwing was take off the US ARMY and sprayed a little gray from ModelMasters
After all that work i now have all of George Preddy's Fighters

You can do it Spin...It's really easy.
If you have a extra P-40 try it.
That way you will have #3 of the Tarheel.

Don't have a spare one at present, but those Aluetian P-40's are cheap as at the moment. Think I'd better grab myself one ;-)

Re: Tarheel P-40 Custom II

Go for it Spin! The models are fairly inexpensive and it's a lot of fun to customize them. Then we could hold our own Tarheel convention.
