Fokker Dr I

This, in a way, is kind of old news, as Matchbox are not being made anymore, but I received my first Matchbox Fokker Dr I the other day. Very nicely done, though not as nice as Carousel1, but also only a little more than a third of the price. Unfortunately, the landing gear on mine is not straight, as in, when sitting, the wings are not level due to the u/c. If I push on one side, they go to a normal position, but do not stay there.

I've sent an Email to the Mule about it, but has anyone else had this problem, and know of any more drastic measures (ie hammer, etc) that might fix this without breaking the undercarriage?

Re: Fokker Dr I

excellent model I have both of those too and report no such problems. It should be an easy fix though.

Re: Fokker Dr I

If all else fails, just show it on the stand with the gear retracted!

Re: Fokker Dr I

I love the MB Tripes and Spad. Like Flyboy pointed out not quite what the Carousel models are but a heck of a lot cheaper! I paid 15.00 for my MB's @ an X-mas sale last year, HoHoHo!
On your landing gear issue... My best and easiest idea would be "super" glue used with a "kicker", (available @ any model/hobby shop). The "kicker" simply dries the glue on contact so be sure you have it seated as you wish before applying the "kicker" liquid.
Do you have the MB SPAD?
Carousel is doing a "Flyboys" movie series of Tripes and Neuiport 17's which (they say) will be cheaper, about $45 as opposed to $70. I am rather selective w/ buying Carousel subjects due to the price. Whats up with the universal 69.99 price... Me-109's, P-40's, tripes, etc... I have seen them even higher @ some shops.

Re: Fokker Dr I

Thanks for the response, JC. I suspect for that to work, however, I'd have to first cut off the landing gear, as, when I push it to one side to correct the positioning of it, it takes quite a bit of pressure. I may not be giving a good written description of the problem. In effect, the wheels are on crooked, like the whole undercarriage was pushed to one side.

I imagine the Mule will come thru for me, hopefully they still have them in stock.

Re: the movie "Flyboys", saw it advertised during the OSU-Texas game, hits the screen 9/22/06. Looking forward to it!

Regarding the $45 Carousel1's, I hope they are the same quality.

And yes, I actually have both the Rickenbacker and Luke Matchbox Spads. They are very well done, I love them both!

Perhaps you're suggesting I take a hacksaw to it?

Talking Re: Fokker Dr I

I see your problem... That type of assembly if done wrong from the start is VERY tough to de-construct and repair.
As to the new Carousel Flyboys subjects check out the website for Carousel. They had some good photos.
The "trailers" for Flyboys look great!!! Note: Watching these trailers I learned... When shooting @ big bags filled w/ flamable gas, stay back a bit. Hope this helps w/ posting here lad's!
