Question WWI - Any Thoughts?

I've just won two of these models on ebay. I've got the 1/72 scale Frank Luke Spad XIII and the red Fokker Dr1 coming. While I really don't collect WWI aircraft, something about these models said, "buy me." At $3.50 a piece, well I bought. Did I make a mistake here? Does anyone have these? What are your thoughts?

Re: WWI - Any Thoughts?

Trap, you made a VERY VERY VERY good purchase here. I know the Spad is a Matchbox, and, other than the lack of wiring, it's a real winner. I assume the red Fokker is also a Matchbox, and, if so, same thing can be said. If it is a Model Power, it's a nice aircraft also, though lacks some of the detail of the Matchbox (especially with the prop and engine), and is rather shiny, but it does have some appropriate wiring on it (though the real thing did not have much wiring). At $3.50 each they are a steal, especially if they are BOTH matchbox.

Ps. I have both Matchbox Spads, and the Voss Fokker by Matchbox. I also have three or four Model Power Fokker Triplanes (got all but one cheaply!)

You mean the 1:48 scale Luke Spad and MVR Fokker DR.1 ? Don't forget to get WV Dr.1 and ER Spad while your at it.
That is a good price you paid for a MB 1:48 WWI fighter too.
I just wished they were rigged like Carousel has done to their WWI fighters.

Are these what you won ?

Then you need to get these two to have the whole MB WWI set.

Thanks STARMAN. The listing said 1/72nd scale. While I don't collect 1/48th scale, I'll keep an open mind here until they show up. Who knows, I might actually like them enough to keep them. At least the pictures I've seen make them look pretty good.

In your first picture are the two I won. They look good so now I'm getting excited to see the real thing. Any other WWI era, good, lower cost WWI model I should know about? I looked on the Mule and I must say I really don't feel like spending $40.00+ for a biplane.

Re: WWI - Any Thoughts?

Only problem with these Matchbox is that the wings are plastic - otherwise they are very nice and a good buy for that price. I have these too.
