| Will MB be kept through the flood? Just reading some of the threads on the MB planes and wondered how many of you still have your MB collection? With the flood of new aircraft from MH and Dragon and Witty etc...it's been hard for me to justify keeping them but so far I have. I have 14 or so and consider the Corsair and JR Hellcat to be among the finest. Both 109s and 190s are still on display as is the Gabreski T-bolt (still the only one in 1/72 in that great scheme). I'm keeping mine for now I guess. They were some of the 1st models I purchased and there is just something about the quaility/price ratio that makes me proud to have them on my shelf. 1. Are you keeping them? 2. Which ones? 3. On display still or boxed away? 4. Why? | |||||||||||||

| Re: Will MB be kept through the flood? I have the matchbox F6 Hellcat (A. Vraciu). It's beautiful. I've looked at the couple of Dragon hellcats to compare, and concluded from photos that they weren't really any better, so I have no need to replace my Matchbox version. But Hobbymaster is coming out with the Hellcat in the same Livery, Vraciu's plane, so I may have to replace my Matchbox F6 at that point if H.M.'s version is spectacular, which it probably will be. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Will MB be kept through the flood? I'm still keeping my Boyington Corsair,Old Crow,Gabby's T-Bolt,Hellcat and Gentile's Mustang with my others in 1:72nd at home. The rest are in my office. It really is hard to part with because they are very nice looking fighters for the money. JP | |||||||||||||

| Re: Will MB be kept through the flood? I still have the original release A6M5 Zero, Fw-190, P-38, and Old Crow P-51 on display. When/if comparable releases become available I will sell them off. The screw holes are a major turn-off. | |||||||||||||

That is so true....Thats why it's best to put them on the lower shelfs so you can't see them.. JP

| Re: Will MB be kept through the flood? I am keeping all of my MBs, mainly for sentimental reasons. I have 16 of them, and I'm still looking for three or four more. I don't have room to display all of my planes, but they are in the rotation. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Will MB be kept through the flood? I've got about all of 'em. I like 'em, and I'm gonna keep 'em on display. I don't see the need to dispense witha perfectly good 109 I paid 12 bucks for and replace it with a marginally better one for 30 bucks. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Will MB be kept through the flood? I'm keeping mine as well. The Robert Scott P-40E was my first piece of diecast, and the VF-17 Jolly Rogers Hellcat is among my favorite models, along with the Tanimizu Zero. The rest of them are pretty nice as well, even though there are others, the line is dormant and I'm still convinced they'll hold their value over time, though they've probably peaked over the short term. Compared to Corgi Warbirds, they are much better weathered, and have pilot figures inside. That plus the sentimental attachment means I'm holding on to em. Skysurfer808 | |||||||||||||

| Re: Will MB be kept through the flood?
1. YES. (I have sold a flew duplicates I picked up in a multi-plane deal that snagged me both the Boyington Corsair AND the P-38 "Mama's Boy.") 2. At this point pretty much all of them. I did buy an extra or two with speculation in mind - eventually I will probably sell/trade those. 3. Almost all are still on display - I have a few in the collection that I never removed from the boxes - i.e. NASA F-104; Gentile's P-51; Aleutian P-40 - due to space issues. 4. These are the models that started the "madness" (for me). As Corgi prices increase, I look at these with increasing appreciation. Paint schemes; detail - i.e. powder residue, etc.; cost to quality ratio; quality pilots; etc. Even adjusted for inflation, I'm not sure if we will ever see this quality of product for the retail price. Besides I'm a "display-in-flight-w/pilot-budget concious" collector - these were the perfect niche for me. Maybe now is the time to write Matchbix and plead for them to bring these back - they should still have the Yeager P-51 and X-1 ready to go......
