Re: Will MB be kept through the flood?

I really think I will like the MB Spads better than the Corgi Spads. I could care less about the rigging is it really worth the exxtra $30 per plane I would pay?

Ya' ain't even seen the production model yet, and ya'r already predictin' yu'll like the MB better!! Sheesh! As far as $, how much is a MB Spad wurth? Only about $7.50? You can git a Corgi Spad for $37.50... not bad fer a 1:48er, especially when yur little C1 Fokkers cost $69.95.

Well, its off to bed fer me, I can't read this post anymor 'cause of all the little red squiggly underlines, and Im a feelin' a bit loopy... I'll be a dreamin' 'bout my 1:48 Rickenbacker Spad by Corgi with all that beutifull riggin' which is wurth the exxtra $30.00 per plane...

Good night, Louie and Cappy... sweet Fokkin' dreems!

Re: Will MB be kept through the flood?

Thanks much for the list. I see another person who throws nothing away. I shall save it in my files--for future reference. Thanks again.

Re: Will MB be kept through the flood?

Seems I see only 2 Hellcats on the list. Should be:

McCampbell
Vraciu
Jolly Rogers/w white dice

I don't know the years or where the Platinum one falls

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!

Re: Will MB be kept through the flood?

I've got several MB planes but only two out on display -- Rutan's Super Sabre and the camo Mig-15. Until someone else does these in 1:72 they will remain in my display. I have considered selling off the others I have, but with current prices I like more than it's worth to sell 'em :-) I also like the 190s quite a bit.

Re: Will MB be kept through the flood?

I really like all the Matchbox planes and for my money, I can't find a better deal. The screw holes aren't a big deal (after all, other more expensive models have them too) and the gear up only option is on par with Corgi's Warbirds ( which have no pilots - go figure). Since I like to display planes in either configuration (gear up or down) this isn't a problem either. The lines are well done, the weathering is subtle, and if you're patient and thrifty, you can still get them at a good price. I've added several missing planes to my collection over the past month. None have cost me more than $15.00 so I saved lots of money and got some beautiful planes that I absolutely love. They are:

Frank Luke SPAD
Red Baron Fokker Dr1
Don Gentile P-51
Tuskeegee P-51 (Platinum edition)
Pappy Boyington F4U
Marion Carl F4U
McCampbell (Minsi) F6F Hellcat
Vraciu F6F Hellcat
Rodel Bf 109G

I'm still looking for the silver P-38, but I'm not going to pay through the nose for it. Since I've got the Robin Olds version, I can wait.

Re: Will MB be kept through the flood?

I agree with what Pappy said concerning the MiG-15 and the F-100. I've got a handful of the MB's, and I like them a lot. I have the camo MiG-15, the Stafford and Fulton F-104s, the Engle F-100 and the Chennault P-40. I have no plans to part with them, unlike some of the other aircraft I have currently cluttering up the shelves.

Right you are Capt'n! I've been looking for one, but all of them have been pretty expensive for my budget. If I've got to pay $25.00 plus for one, I might as well wait for Corgi's version. I paid less than $10.00 for my Frank Luke Spad and that is a price my budget can stand. The key for me right now is to get planes I like and will enjoy without busting the family budget. That means most new releases and most of Matchbox's rarer planes are out of my reach.

Re: Will MB be kept through the flood?

....well.....

I just bought 3 more - in an Ebay auction ending on 12/24/07. $31.00 shipped for: Corsair "Marion Carl" (I had this one , but traded it to a Hangar member a couple years ago for the Matchbox Tuskegee P-51); Hellcat "White 59"; and a "Scott" P-40. (Models had been displayed but came in "mint" condition in their original boxes.) My winning bid was $15.50. Shipping was over $16 (????) The seller quoted me $6.60 shipping prior to the auction ending - still overall a decent price for the 3 planes.

I was really after the Corsair and Hellcat - as I already had the P-40.
