| Ki-84 Hayate & Raiden in 1/48th I'd really love to order a Marushin Ki-84 'Frank' or J2.M Raiden, but could use advice. Although I've tried looking thru some older threads, it seems ALL the pix I come across have since been deleted (too-old ?) Can ANY of you guys post pictures plz, (particularly the Ki-84), or give me some advice on (any?) 'bad-points' with these models as I've NEVER had any dealings with them... (although web-site I looked at said "they're V.heavy"). Also, any ideas of what is ROUGHLY the R.R.P. ? Here's hoping & thanks in advance. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Ki-84 Hayate & Raiden in 1/48th HC, You came to the right place... I have 3 of the Ki-84s and both Jack Raidens. One thing you will notice first off is the fine panel line detail and the nice paint finish. The plane (fuselage, wings/stabilizers, main gear, prop) are solid metal and very heavy, with the only plastic being the "fiddly bits" to be added during assembly (even the drop tanks are solid metal). I have 13 Marushin planes and like them all with very little to complain about other than lack of cockpit detail. The cockpit typically consists of a black painted recess with a plain pilots seat, metal rod for the stick and a flat/plain black plastic piece for the instrument panel. Retail is usually around $75USD for either plane, but at Aikens, you'll pay around $100USD for each. Here are some pics of the Franks.. ![]() ![]() | |||||||||||||

HC, The canopies are thin, clear plastic, I don't think they are "crystal" but they aren't bad. I took some "quickie" pics of the Raidens I have and I have a couple of "factory" pics of the Tony. Sorry about the quality of the Raiden pics, but my photography skills are seriously lacking. The pilot is a Marushin pilot that I picked up from Aikens. Hope these help. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Sure do, 'H' , they sure do ! I wish the Silver 'Hein' was available over here, as I've only seen the Green one listed at 1 x U.K. dealer. Looks mighty 'drab' in comparison. As for the pilot figure(s) , I'll pass. To those guys wondering; Yeah, I'm ALWAYS in awe & admiration for what our guys done in WW.II...... However, If I can AVOID having pilot figures (in any scale), I will !!!!!!!!!! No-worries about the J.2-M pix, they're PLENTY good enough to illustrate for what I need to know. Many thanks again, 'H' for all the pix & esp' the advice. The Ki-84's still my fave Jap choice (nice lines). I've still got x 2 Hasegawa 1/48th kits unbuilt = crisp-moulds ! I've been into Ki-61's since I built my 1st one (Revell) in 1971 Also got x 3 of them by Hasegawa (again, in 1/48th & an Aeromaster decal sheet, to match). But, being a lazy-git, these Marushin models look REALLY good.

HC, Check Ebay for "Marushin". You will see about 17 planes listed under a seller called "HobbyJapan". He is the seller I bought the majority of my Marushins from and is very reliable. He also has the Silver and Green Tonys now, but no Franks or Raidens, and he is VERY reasonable in price.
