Re: New Molds I Would Like From Marushin

I'd say the Tojo is long overdue, so that would be my first pick. But I'd also really like to see a N1K1 Kyofu (Rex) - that's one great looking floatplane! I'd also like to see its cousin - an early Shiden with the mid wing configuration (which I think looks far cooler than the low wing of the KAI). Sadly, the differences between the airframes of the Rex, the Shiden and the Shiden-Kai are so great that it'll never happen. Guess I'll have to try my hand at kits again then

On a perhaps somewhat more plausible note, because new castings are so unlikely, it would simply be great to see Marushin bring out some new schemes. We've noted already that there are loads of easy options out there (I seem to remember a rather fetching silver Frank with a blue tail). But what would really be a quantum leap for Marushin would be to invest in some new paint machinery that will enable them to do those blotchy schemes, which are so uniquely Japanese. Then they could finally do some of the coolest Japanese schemes out there! Even Ixo manages to get a decent blotch effect on its Tony and Oscar, so there really is no excuse for Marushin. If only!

I agree, I love the mid wing look of the early George.

ABSOLUTELY!!!
Marushin had plans to do an F4U Corsair at one time too! It was listed on their brochure.

..And then they realized they had no heart for the business and walked out of the game. Just when we were in the seats w/ our popcorn and baseball hats with the fancy M on them. Sheesh Marushin, we barely knew ya.

Hi Chris.

Re: New Molds I Would Like From Marushin

Maybe Marushin will reemerge. If they featured the Corsair in a brochure, then maybe they've already cut the molds and but for some reason had to stop. Perhaps for reasons having nothing to do with the diecast market? I think the F4U would sell big, even in the domestic Japanese market.

Someone told me yesterday... "the first company to come out with an accurate and modern-tool 1/48 Corsair will make a lot of money." I agree. It's a missed opportunity, much like a modern 1/48 Fw 190A and 109G.

Re: New Molds I Would Like From Marushin

Although I don't like the Corsair presonally,it would sure be a coup in 1:48. Ara,you are 100% right on re. the FW190 and the Bf109,esp. the K variant. These are past due in a market that would yield BIG$$$$$$$$$ to the maker who first produces them.
