Hobby Japan Ki-61 Tony on eBay

Don't know if this is old news but Hobby Japan on eBay had a Marushin #33 listed with a Buy It Now for $78.80. This is the first I have seen this paint scheme for sale. I hit the Buy tab but I'm sure there will be another one listed tomorrow.

Yeah, Starman already picked one up.. This is the same "new scheme" that is sold at Hobbylink Japan..

Thanks. I didn't know that. I thought the new one on Hobbylink was a Camo painted one.
I had one ordered with Hobbylink but didn't really understand how payment was to be made. Guess I'm glad of that now. Sure don't need two of them.

"new" -- it's an older release, no? I saw the same one listed as backordered on HLJ today, either they dug up a few crates or reissued some more?

Nice scheme, very tempting.......

You can use paypal and select "pay later" when you order and they'll send you a paypal invoice... at least that's what happened with me and the CW Vandy I eventually backed out of ordering.

Re: Hobby Japan Ki-61 Tony on eBay

I think your correct Pappy about this paint scheme being an older one. So is this the same one that HLJ had for sale as a new one?

Yes, It is the same scheme that was touted as "NEW" but is actually a re-release of the limted pre-assembled planes that sold out a few years ago.. I think the difference is that this probably isn't pre-assembled (speculation) like the first release was.. I just hope Marushin decides to re-release the other birds in the "limited" line so I can get the other schemes I want.

Starman will probably get his before anyone and hopefully he will give us a scoop on it..

Re: Hobby Japan Ki-61 Tony on eBay

I found an old AeroMaster decal sheet ( 72-062 ) which shows what looks like the same plane, except it has the number 57 in red on the main wheel carriage doors and the spinner and props are brown. This KI-61 has a dark green squiggle-like pattern applied over the bare metal upper surfaces, including the tail area, which is also in bare metal, not red as on many of these fighters stationed in the home islands late in the war. I will probably apply this camouflage and the red numbers to my "new" Marushin Tony if it looks as it is pictured on this thread.
