Hobby Japan Back on EBay

They have another batch of "buy now" planes at decent prices. Sorry no Betty's, but there is a Frank.

A 'silver' Frank. The Val divebomber is nice as well.

I can only dream that Marushin will release a "Tony" like this one someday...

Re: Hobby Japan Back on EBay

I was just thinking of getting one of these to ride along with the CW Vandy I ordered. Is the quality/detail on all the Marushins good? I have never seen one up close.

I saw one once and it seemed about Speccast quality.

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!

These are old castings... 10 years or so.. so they can not compete with the likes of EI for detail, moving parts, etc.

However, I dares ya to find a heavier model in the scale -- you do get your $'s worth of metal, if you're into that sort of thing. The paint jobs are very well done, and the etching -- say on the panel lines is superb.

They're not so good with cockpit bracing and cockpit detail, however, and some can be a pain to put together.

Personally, I really like them and have bought several from this seller over the last year -- as have a few others on the forum. Marushin definitley makes the best 1:48 Zero, and I also have a George, Raiden, Kate (awesome), Val, and Frank. In my opinion this is the best available line of Japanese warplanes in existence. Then again, that's not saying much as there ain't much competition.

On par with Speccast... I'd have to respectfully disagree with that one.

Here's a link to pics of my Val: Photo Album

Which is my least favorite Marushin I own (never have got that silly bomb to fit!)

Re: Hobby Japan Back on EBay

Quick note re. Hobby Japan/Marushin: Excellent service from the seller, answered e-mails promptly. Received the A/C in 4days!! Got the #18 A6M2 for my early PTO display. Great fit and finish on this model. It went together easily, only gripe is the canopy fit and mediocre paint job. Looks O.K. open, but nothiing in the cockpit! Think I'll modify an extra C1 guy to fill the gap. Overall a much nicer model than the Kato Oscar which was a pain and rather rough overall.

Hey Roowalker, you can get Marushin IJN/IJA pilots for your 1/48 planes at Aikens.

If anyone is interested, I noticed a local Ebayer out of Austin Texas selling a bunch of Marushins (no rare ones), but the prices are as if they were rare.
