No Tojo? Doh!

I have an old Marushin brochure that showed a photo of a Tojo as if it were the next release but sadly...it never happened. After I received hworth's gracious contribution of his IXO Jack to my collection of 1/72 scale Japanese WWII fighters, I realized that the Tojo is the only major version of the single engine Japanese WWII fighters not yet produced by IXO as well. I think the Tojo would make a great diecast model and should be made by Marushin before they close up shop forever. Oh - and they should have one last production run of the Betty too. That way they could go out with a BANG!

Re: No Tojo? Doh!

Marushin realized it was fuglier than the misproportioned Jack and saved the zinc for precious doorhandles.

Or not.

Re: No Tojo? Doh!

It is a shame that the folks at Marushin never made the Ki. 44 Tojo. I can think of another fairly sharp looking Japanese fighter that has yet to be made, and that would be the Kawasaki Ki.100. There are still quite a few Japanese twin and single engine fighters that have yet to be made and all would make for great looking diecast models.

Re: No Tojo? Doh!

I do like the Ki-100 variant of the "Tony" but the definitive version Ki-61 has already been done. However, a Mitsubishi A5M "Claude" would be nice.

One that would look sharp next the the A5M Claude would be the Nakajima Ki 27 Nate. Both had a interesting variety of paint schemes.

True - the Claude and Nate kinda go together like the Jack and Tojo do!

I sure would not turn up my nose if the slung out some Japanese twin engine fighters like the Nakajima J1N Gekko or the Kawasaki Ki 45 Toryu either.

I find the Frank and Tojo have very similar profiles, the Frank kicking A in wing planform and overall size.

Regarding the A5M, It would look great alongside our Lexington/Saratoga Buffalos. Same generation--- Opposites sides--- Very colorful--- Never fought each other.

You could have an A5M Claude parked next to one of your FM Dauntlesses. Three Enterprise Dauntlesses were shot down by A5Ms over Roi Island in the Kwajelein Atoll (I spent two years living on Kwaj when I was a kid, lots of fun stuff there). So if you had an appropriate year Enterprise Dauntless, sure would make a good match with the A5M Claude.

Really- I didn't know Claudes fought the US! Can you share more info about that, and plus, your own observations of the atoll? Very interesting Cruver!! Lanslide, do you mind if I ask CC such questions on yer thread? I'll take back calling the Tojo and Jack names...
