Re: Looking at the Willow

I keep thinking about getting one of these also, but I seem to have so much trouble putting
Marushins together that I'm scared this will be too hard and I'll screw it up, get frustrated,
and toss it in the back of the closet, like I did with the Kate.

IIRC, the Willow is preassembled, so not worries there...

I have the willow float plane, and it is similar to the other marushin models in terms of assembly. I haven't assembled it yet, but I must admit that it looks like a more involved procedure with all the struts and braces.

Re: Looking at the Willow

Well the Willow has arrived, talk about fast shipping. I ordered it on Saturday the 26 got confirmation on the 27 and then got an E mail on the 28th that it was shipped. Friday Feb 1 in the AM its at my door, Japan to Niagara Falls in 4 days, well done Hobby Japan. Any way when I get home the little woman says there's a package for me, and what did I order from Japan. She did not think it was a die cast aircraft as the box is surprisingly only 2 inches thick. Any done to my computer/hobby room grinning like a kid a Christmas. This is my first Marushin, didn't know what to expect, never seen one in person, so when I opened up the box and seen all the pieces I though I bought a model kit. My first impression as I checked out the parts were WOW this thing is going to be heavy. All the major pieces, body, wings, struts, even the floats are solid metal. I bet you one float is heavier than the Corgi Swordfish. I carefully lay the pieces out, open up the instructions and DOH there totally in Japanese no English at all. Well there are pictures and instructions are only the manufacturer's opinion on how things are suppose to go, so off I went and 4 hrs later was done.

I must say that I am very impressed with this model and will be looking at getting some more Marushins, the pieces fit together nice and tight only a little bit of filing on the odd piece to get it to fit. If you don't like fiddly little bits this model may not be for you as there are a few from the control sticks, marker lights and rigging every thing has to be assembled.

Here are some Pics.

Re: Looking at the Willow

Now I think I'll have to get the FM -Nkajima A6M2, Rufe to go along with it. Hey Dave I think Modelers Choice carries these, I see a trip to Hamilton in the future.
