Re: Got my first Marushin

Thanks, Harry. It was you, Pappy, and Bill that started me down the Marushin road! I plan to add at least one of each mold to my collection. Can you refer me to a vendor for instrument panel decals?

btw... I am sitting here admiring my new Zeke, and it just dawned on me: the fit is fabulous. There are no glaring seams or gaps. The fuselage, wings, cowling, and horizontal stabls are cast in one piece... so no Corgi-like / FM-like seams running across or down the fuselage. The wings fit very well, as do the stabs, so while there is a join line in the root areas, the fit is very good. Panel lines and rivet detail are outstanding. Overall, it is a beautiful model which I HIGHLY recommend.

You are correct and this is the main thing I love about them is that there are no seams, or jointlines or gaps. Gotta love it....
BTW, I have a couple of NIB Marushins I may be selling soon as I have too many. PM me if you are interested and I can probably give them to you at a good price.

Re: Got my first Marushin

Congrats Elmer! I also added instrument panel decals which helps with the lack of cockpit detail.

As for derhamburgerjung, Onmark will be selling these and there is a company in the UK that also sells Marushin, but I can't recall the name off hand.

Re: Got my first Marushin

I've recently joined the Marushin club! I picked up S-033 Silver Ki-61 Hien -- 33 and S-005 A6M5 with Special Markings from Hobby Japan and... drum roll please: S-007 P-51D Ridge Runner from Aikens! So far, I've only had time to assemble the Zero. It went together well and looks terrific. I painted the wing guns gun metal which makes it look even better.

Glad to hear of your new acq's Elmer! An Elmer thumbs up carries a lot of weight.

Speaking of which, how do you rate the Zero landing gear? I plan on replacing mine with fixed Tamiya gear.

Glad you like the zeke Elmer! (I had to ditch my FM Zero/s after I got my first Marushin).

Get on that P-51 already though -- very interested to hear about that!

I must confess, I am not expert enough to say. Although I am not crazy about how Marushin did the upper (tiny) strut door.

I'll try to this week-end. Hopefully it will snow so I have an excuse to stay indoors! If I can't get to it, I will try to post pics of the unassembled model.

Got my 4th on the way... thanks to Harry!

Elmer, how's that 'Stang com'n together? I told ya it's a great model! Now you need the Yeager chrome plated version.

Sorry 'slide, and everyone else... didn't get to it. I had about 10 minutes last night to start assembling my new Kate (thanks Harry!). I have been so busy with work, family, community, I haven't had much time for my hobby. I have little time to read and post on MHII. Be patient, I will get pics posted as soon as I can.
