| Re: More "Kate" pics please???
Jim, Thank you for the additional pic as it really shows the upper surfaces of the Kates well.. Also, I have studied the J-aircraft site but could not find where the paint formula for the new Zero color is.. Is it possible for you to post it here??

| Re: More "Kate" pics please??? hworth Go on th site and PM Greg Springer or request his formula for Zero colors. I am sure he will respond. Here is Greg SPRINGER's mixture for the Kate color which is very similar. >>The only Kates brought down at Pearl Harbor were from the Kaga's hard luck detachment. This mix was matched to artifacts held in storage by the Nimitz Museum in Texas. Model Master enamels 28 parts Armor Sand 40 parts Faded Olive Drab 26 parts Flat White 1 part Flat Black Coat with a clear gloss This is a full scale mix. You may wish to lighten it for scale effect. If you do so, add in some pale green to prevent a shift towards yellow. Nobody can call you on it since all Soryu Kates are at the bottom of the Pacific. << *Greg SPRINGER via J-Aircraft Dotcom HTH Jim Lansdale P.S. I have a photo of a SHOKAKU Kate from the Coral Sea Battle ... if you want I could post it too. | |||||||||||||

Reason: Addition of photo
Harry I found another shot of a SHOKAKU Kate at the time of PH via Shigeru NOHARA: ![]() and ![]() The one below (from NARA) was a SHOKAKU Kate shot down during the Coral sea Battle [E1-306]. It was painted dark-green overall upper surfaces and light olive below, white outline to the uppersurface hinomaru. It had red call numbers on the tail with a shotai-cho stripe on the tail in white. ![]() HTH Jim Lansdale Credit: LRA via J-aircraft.com Main Page
