| I just received Marushin's #17 Oscar in green and have to say I was really pleased with the model. To start off packaging was excellent with most pieces being covered individually in bubble wrap. I definitely cannot find any faults in how they package their models. The model for the most part went together pretty easily. Stabilizers did require some light filing to insure flush fit with fuselage, Telescopic gun sight was a little tricky to attach. There was an addition to the plans showing how much to trim off gun sight base, but still had to tweak it a bit to get proper fit with canopy. There was one error in the model plans though. Among the parts are two main landing gear oleos, and on the main gear are the two attachment points. Problem is that the instructions do not indicate the placement of these two parts. This was really the only discrepancy I found on this model. I used CA for mounting the stabilizers and followed up with white glue for all other part attachment (No sense in crazing the canopy with CA). Model does have retractable landing gear, which works pretty good. Overall I was really impressed with the product that Marushin put out and hope they continue to put out more planes in the future. | |||||||||||||

Color would probably be close to more of an olive green upper surface with light grey bottom surface. I might have preferred it they had gone with natural metal color for bottom surface of aircraft. Funny thing is that I made Nichimo Nakajima Ki 43-1 Oscar kit 1/48 scale (Many,,,, many ,,,, many years ago) with the same unit markings and paint scheme matches what was put out by Marushin. Since the JAAF was not particularly well known for standardizing there paint schemes, I feel Marushin folks did fairly nice job on this plane. | ||||||||||||||
