Oops, and it should have been Ki-15 Babs.

That is what I am talking about, but it is on a A6M Zero..

That Babs was called the "Kamikaze" and has some history to it. I can't remember what record it held, was it a goodwill flight to England? No sure.

Regarding rising sun's with red beams coming out of the Hinomaru, I've only seen this marking in US war films (with the exception of the Babs, of course). In the 1942 movie "Wings" There's a whole squadron of "Japanese" planes painted with such wingtips. Also, in the 1975 Midway movie, the faux Kates were painted with such markings.

Re: I'd kill for some good Marushin pics.

Got my response from Hobby Japan:

The Marushin pre-assembled models are sold out and there is no plan for
Marushin remanufacturing these items.

Best regards,

Hobby_Japan

Not good news....

What do they do, destroy the molds when they are finished?

I didn't ask about the Bettys, just the pre-assembled planes that are out of production..

Maybe Eagles Int'l can negotiate a buy for the molds, rework a few details and get these planes into consumers' hands.

The plane in question was the second (civil) prototype and was used to establish a new record flight time between Japan and England.
