Re: I'd kill for some good Marushin pics.

The pre-assembled Marushin planes were originally available in 2003, but sold quickly.. I have emailed Hobby Japan to see if they can get any additional info from Marushin on whether these will be available in the future..

BTW Pappy.... I ordered 1 box each of the Marine/Army pilots for my Marushins, Thanks for continually feeding my addiction..

Surely you and Pappy don't need that many pilots. I will gladly take some of the sitting ones off of your hands.

Bill,
If you order from Aikens, ask if they will sell you a box (4 or 5) pilots at a discount.. That is what I did and she gave them to me for the price of the mechanics set which is $16.95.. Not a bad deal considering they are $5.95 each individually..

Did I read right that the pilots are painted ceramic?? How well do they fit inside the planes and will they fit in all of them??
(I probably should've asked this before I bought 2 boxes)..

Received order last week from Aiken's Planes (Oscar and army pilot). Pilot figure looks to be either hard rubber or maybe more flexible plastic. I had no problem fitting pilot fig into Oscar cockpit.

Yeah, as noted below they look to be hard rubber -- they fit in all the fighters just fine (they come with their legs amputated below the knees ). They do look like a tight fit for the dive bombers though, but I seem to recall some pics around here that shows them comfortably inside one of these...

Thanks for the info Pappy/Cruver.. I thought it was weird that Aikens has them listed as painted ceramic??

A little offtopic.. Do anyone remember, on the old forum, someone posted a pic of a zero with the rising suns painted on its wingtips (rather than a hinamaru)?? I am interested in finding that pic again for a custom Zero project I will be working on..

I had to do a little research on your rising sun marking on wing tip question. In the past remember seeing a plane similar markings. I dug through some of my recognition journals to see what I could find. In a Naval Intelligence ONI 232 recognion manual I found a plane with markings you described. Unfortunately it was not a Zero, but instead a Ki-51 Babs. Caption indicated prewar paint scheme. I have a collection of "The Aeroplane Spotter" spotter bulletins from early 1941 through the end of the war and I will check to see it I can turn anything up there. I already went through the United States Joint service journals, but came up dry.

Sorry, the pic I was referring to was actually artwork of a fantasy paint scheme, not a real one.. Or, it could've been a model, I don't really remember..

Oops, and it should have been Ki-15 Babs.
