Re: My first Marushin..

I got my Marushin Zero last weekend...

Well, it's a nice model but has some issues:

- First of all it's very heavy compared to a FM/A. (which is not a bad thing per se but puts strain on the gear etc.).
- It took some brute force to put the screws in which connect the wings to the fuselage. From my POV brute force and diecast don't mix well.

- But what annoys me somewhat is the fitting accuracy of the resin parts. I wasn't able to fit the parts which are between the auxillary tank and the lower fuselage because they were badly moulded or whatever. This is simply bad!

Wow AA, Sorry to hear your troubles... I have to say that of the 3 planes I have so far, I have had no problems with the assembly screws going in very easily.. The only issues I have had were with loose parts and having to use CA glue to get them to stay together, but it wasn't anything major.. Maybe you got a Friday @ 5 plane??

It's half as bad as it sounds. But nevertheless annoying...

Sure, the loose parts like gear doors should be glued. I'll have to do that, too.

The only parts that didn't fit are these connecting thingies between the aux tank and the fuselage.

I think it's an older version since I got it off ebay. Dunno, maybe they had a bad resin batch.

Anyway, it looks really nice and makes a nice addition to my collection. For a decent price I'll surely get more of them. But I wouldn't pay full price for them.

The Betty is really tempting since I like the big bombers (I got 1/48-scale B-1B, B-17, B-29).

Honestly, that is why I buy off the Ebay seller or will order them from Hobby link because locally, these are VERY expensive and even though they are nice, they aren't "local price nice" which is about twice what it costs to get them from Japan..

Good luck finding that Betty..

Hah, you can't even get them over here locally. Never seen a retailer who carries Marushin in Germany. I got mine from france for about $50 shipped. Not to bad I think. Hobby link seems like a good source and shipping over here is also okay.

Well, since I am more into modern airplanes anyway I'll waint for the occassionaly "good deal".

Yes, same to you or are you lucky enough to own one?

Unfortunately, I don't own a Betty (If I did, Mhackl would be at my house wanting it) but I may pick one up if Marushin ever decides to re-issue them..

Yeah, the Bettys seem to be among the rarest diecast airplanes. I have a knack for ferreting out rare stuff butt this one has eluded me so far.
