Re: My first Marushin..

Thanks to your evil influence, Harry, I got the George and Tony today. Can't find much info on the Frank, was it successful in combat?

After the war, the US brought one each of Japans different fighters to evaluate them and the Frank was actually considered the best Japanese fighter produced during the war..

Did you order yours from Hobby Link Japan (HLJ) or Aikens?? The Tony is also on my list, but HobbyJapan (Ebayer) hasn't has any of these yet and I will probably have to pick it up from someone else later..

Re: My first Marushin..

The George and Tony were both on Hobby Japan this morning and I did not hesitate and did the "buy it now". I was going to get the Sugita Zero the other day but let it sit while I checked out the photos and lost out on it.

The George and Frank, to me, both bear a strong resemblance to the P-47 and I know that the Japanese tested the Frank against the Fw 190 and found it comparable in performance (if not better).

Congrats on the purchase as if you hadn't gotten them, I would have... Hopefully Hobbyjapan will post more up for sale so I can pick them up..

Re: My first Marushin..

I would love to give Aikens my business on the Marushins but the price differential is just too great and I have found that HLJ is not reliable on what they show is in stock.

I love the looks of the Willow float plane, though hobby japans' price is a bit to steep for me.

That's one of the few that I've seen in person. It's a beautiful model; I contemplating buying one for myself.

Which Tony was it..?. please say it wasn't the green one (#13...which I recently paid through nose to get from AA)

I nabbed a Takeo Tanimizu Zero (I was watching the one that sold over the weekend, I emailed 'em to see if they had another and they relisted it...)... and a Raiden, and a Frank... now I'm done for a while.

If you fellas don't hear from me next week, send the police to look for evidence of foul play (the Mrs. is not going to be happy -- time to sell some more stuff )

I wouldn't have jumped on these but like others here, I'm thinking time may be getting short to get 'em on the open market...

Agreed.. Even buying from HLJ is cheaper (about what you'd pay from the Ebayer).. But Bill, if you decide you don't like the two Marushins, just PM me and I am sure we can work out a deal...

Pappy, it was the silver one. I believe it is the same as the one in the pictures I posted on the Tony's.
