Yak-3 Q

Just got this one and am a bit befuddled by the landing gear (down position). The gear doors appear to be backwards on the struts, as if you mount them correctly the gear tilts backwards instead of forwards and looks totally off. (Not to mention the gear doors are not painted blue to match the underside of the model )

Anyone have the same issue?

Re: Yak-3 Q

I don't have that model yet, so I can't help. I have some pictures of the real thing, however, maybe they will help. The Yak-3 is on my list.

Yes,

I have the Altaya one and the main undercarriage has the gear doors around the wrong way it seems!

Re: Yak-3 Q

Yeah, the Easy Model one is a pretty good buy.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Yak-3 Q

Save yourself some trouble buy the Easy Model plane(s). There are 5 different paint schemes. The 2 green are the best.

Re: Yak-3 Q

This is disappointing news as I had looked forward to both Soviet planes (which should arrive in the next few days). After hearing about the gear from Paps I found pics which showed the model with the gear down. You could see they have the same color as the fuselage while the rest of the plane's underside is blue.

Are the workers (notice I didn't say craftsmen) at IXO colorblind? Just can't figure that company out. It had so much promise a couple of years ago and they have squandered any good will they might have had among American collectors due to their quality and delivery issues.

Well this would show that the workers in question got it right with the Yak-3, then, no? The color of the doors matches the fuselage, not the underside...

However, on the La-7 the gear doors are blue to match the underside... so maybe they were hedging their bets

The La-7's gear is too long, too -- the plane looks like it's on stilts

Despite their considerable issues, the models still manage to have a certain... charm about them. And at least they give us something to park next to all of our German Eastern Front birds

Re: Yak-3 Q

True enough PappyB. I have about 10 IXOs purely because no-one else is pre-pared to make them.
