Thumbs up Re: Yak-3 Q

I have about 10 IXOs as well, did not realize there was even an issue with the Yak?

Can the doors be painted with spray and can they be mounted the correct way with just a little glue?

I got mine just yesterday and it is on a stand so far so I did not notice the issue,

As for the LA-7 it looks like it sits just like some pics I dug up,

No on else if going to do these and not for $23.00 or less for sure.

For giggles, try placing the gear over the gear wells, as if they were folding and you'll probably see what I mean on the La-7: There's no way the gear as its modelled could actually fold into those wells. And it looks like it sits a lot higher than the one I saw at the wings over sonoma show this summer Share those pics!

The Yak-3 gear issue could be fixed with some effort yes, but that's why I buy diecast -- cuz my modelling skills bite!

Re: Yak-3 Q

Here is one pic of the La-7, it does sit high on the landing gear.

Re: Yak-3 Q

The workpeople at Altaya/IXO just glued the gear doors for the Yak-3 to the wrong gear strut. All that needs to be done is detach the doors (they come out easily, try not to use a "bear hand"!, the tip of an x-acto knife will help) and reglue them to the right strut. Of course this will not solve the color problem!

Re: Yak-3 Q

It would be interesting to see some of the assembly lines for the models. I think it would be cool to see how they get put together.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Yak-3 Q

Last night a friend of mine came over and showed me some of the IXO's he just got.
I liked the Yak-3 and La-7 to a point i'll have to do some to custom work make it look better for him.
Your right about the gear thats for sure ....but it can be fixed.
On the assembly lines do machines put these things together or is it workers ??.
I have seen some machine that can be programed to assemble to put things together.
Is why i asked.

Re: Yak-3 Q

All of the IXO's have horrible landing gear. My ME 110 broke the other day. I like the Japanese planes because there the only one's. I got the 219 owl and haven't even set it up. When I get a chance I'll try to trade it for something in the market place.

The CHC website is still up I think. If you check the 100th Newsletter Special Review you will see the Corgi Factory visit with the building process.

Re: Yak-3 Q

  • The Yak-3 Q model from IXO...SAD...
  • I got one and I sent it right back.
  • Two things is wrong with it:
  • 1) The main landing gear doors are on backwards...go figure...
  • 2) The air intake from underneath the fuselaje is filled in...it supposed to be a hole there for air intake...people!!!
ADVICE:
  • If you have one...get rid of it.
  • Buy the EASY MODEL version...now that's a YAK!!!...

Angry Re: Yak-3 Q

Just got this one and am a bit befuddled by the landing gear (down position). The gear doors appear to be backwards on the struts, as if you mount them correctly the gear tilts backwards instead of forwards and looks totally off. (Not to mention the gear doors are not painted blue to match the underside of the model )

Anyone have the same issue?

I have not picked this one up though imagine that! An issue w/ IXO landing gear! I am still on "slow burn" over the Wildcats gear, HORRIBLE!
