Ixo - Where are the new wave reports ;-)

Hey all -- the new wave of IXOs is apparently in, anyone got a hands-on report with the Avenger yet. My hopes aren't high, and I'm guessing I should wait for the HM version, but maybe I'll grab one. I did get the Frank, and per the last thread, it's a good model.

I think perhaps my IXO strategy going forward will be to stick with the Japanese and Russian birds, as they seem to be the nicest of the bunch... the La-7 looks pretty nice.

I think if HM ramps up as it's planning that IXO will have to drop its prices to closer to MB levels to keep on our radar ??

Re: Ixo Losing Favor -- Where are the new wave reports ;-)

I just got the La-7 & MS 406. The La-7 is well done. My particular plane has a bit of touch-up on the tail. (poorly done). The MS is butt-ugly! It looks like it flew through a sewage treatment plant (at the front end !). It does have a nice Napolean bust on the side. But (all join in now) who else but IXO will do this plane. I would wait for the MS to go on sale. It'll be $14.99 before you know it! The La-7 is worth full admission!

Re: Ixo Losing Favor -- Where are the new wave reports ;-)

I have no problems with IXO other than trying to get them here in the US. I have the IL-2 Sturmovik, LA-7, Stuka, HS 129, Me 110 and most of the Japanese planes. I want to get the Frank and have the Grace on the way.

The panel lines that everyone complains about are no worse than the ones on the HM divebomber that I have.

I like the mixture they give my collection, like having the LA-7 next to an Eastern Front 109 and the Wasp Squadron Me 110 with the Corgi Wasp 109.

It could be years before other manufacturers make these models and I will enjoy viewing my collection rather than wait for what might come.

Forgot to mention the 2 Machii's that look great with the desert Spits, Hurricanes and Me 109's.

Re: Ixo Losing Favor -- Where are the new wave reports ;-)

Wmosner, did you get that IL-2 direct from Spain? I'd like one of those myself, but can't seem to make myself "import" them.

I did go ahead and order the Yak and La-7, held off on the avenger.

I agree that HM has panel line issues, too, but I don't think they're as severe as IXO's -- different strokes... So I am trying to stay away from models where the problem is enhanced (such as the TBM).

For me, the bigger issue is the obvious difference in the detail level/quality of the small parts, where IXO really lags HM and Dragon/Corgi.

But, like you say, many of the models will likely never come out from anyone else so IXO is still on my radar

I have been getting them from a guy on Ebay. His also come with the booklet. Other than the Stuka, all mine are models that no one else makes.

Both Machii's are excellent. No need to look for alternatives on these! Get them!

I agree that the Japanese planes are extremely well done. I'm waiting for my Frank and I'd love the Grace. I did get the Hien from ebay and it's a real beauty. The Russian and Italian planes look really nice, but I'm not into getting them. I've got an IXO 109 and I really enjoy looking at it. The P-40N isn't bad either, but I don't like the livery and as posted else where, a major customization job is currently under way.

Re: Ixo Losing Favor -- Where are the new wave reports ;-)

We were informed by IXO's US distributor that they shipped to us this afternoon. That would put them in our hands and shipping to customers in a couple of days.
