This is "pre-order October" at the mule? Can you get this someplace without the pre-order?

No regular retailer has these yet as they are not due to arrive until August (I think)? But a few people on Ebay get them faster than everyone else and can sell one to you now.

I found a seller on ebay that has this one and various other 1/144 scale due out in the Fall. I ended up buying the Emily, the He-177 and the big Junkers Ju-290. I will have the 3 within the next week and will make a report.

Re: H8K Emily 1/44 IXO Review

I have a number of these models, including the B-17, Halifax, Ju-290, Cant Z1007, Emily, HE-177, FW-200 and LeO 451. Like all mass produced products, they have numerous defects, primarily associated with assembly and detailing. These include obvious gaps where the wings and tailplanes are joined to the fuselage, stubby, oversized and bent machine guns or cannon, incorrectly aligned numbers, letters or stripes, clumsy paint jobs, etc. On the other hand, the altaya/IXO models are much better than previous attempts, featuring pad printed markings, more realistic landing gear and, overall, much more detail built into their molds. And the best thing is this: you can't get these models from any other source.

eBay seller, Cristiantq has a bunch of these up for sale or bids. Check out his store and as you click onto each plane scroll down to review his excellent pictures, which show the models from many angles. If you are willing to make "corrections", most of these can be turned into quite decent gap fillers while we wait for Corgi or HM to do them.

Here's my weathered, gaps closed Emily, sans the beaching wheels.

Re: H8K Emily 1/44 IXO Review

Nice looking models of the Emily, but yet to see a photo of an Emily with gun mount atop the canopy though.
