Altaya/IXO Cant Z 1007 Review

This neat 1:144th scale replica just arrived and I must say, it is quite good. The camouflage might have been applied a bit more subtly but they even carried the pattern across the main canopy's frames, which is a touch I really appreciate. I darkened various air ducts and the inside of the engine cowls, added navigation lights and that was about it. For those craving Italian birds--like CC--it's a must buy.

Ditto on the good review from me, too. This is one of three Altaya 1/144 bombers I have so far and it looks quite good. It's a must have for those who want to beef up their Italian collection.

Like the Cant Z 1007, and just might have to consider getting one of these. Hope to see more Italian aircraft being put out, and hopefully some in 1/72nd scale.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

I think that you will like this one CC. One caution, however. They didn't include the bracing struts for the horizontal stabilizers, which I plan to add when I have some time to spare. I guess that we can expect the same thing on the Fiat BR 20 and SM-79 when they arrive. Small flaws that are readily corrected.

Forgive me for the dumb question, but are the landing gear on this model removeable? Can it be displayed in flight, gear-up? Thanks.

The landing gear are fixed in the "down" mode. I'm toying with the idea of experimenting on an "extra" model one day to see if I can convert it to an "in flight" mode. This looks to be a risky business on any planes where the main wheels remain partially exposed. I'm also not sure if the wheel well doors, if broken off however neatly, will fit the resulting open space.

Thanks for the info, Epapazian. I was really excited about this model, and it looks great, but the fixed gear might be a deal breaker. Oh well. Thanks for posting the great pic.

Now that I check reference pictures, I do notice that the struts are missing. But they would be absolutely tiny on this 1/144 scale model - almost a thread!

P.S. - for anyone looking up pictures/info. of the CANT Z 1007, this plane was made in a single tail-fin configuration and also in a twin tail-fin configuration. The Altaya version is obviously the single tail-fin version.
