Re: New IXO 1:144 Scale Bomber Images

Well dangit! Looks like I now have to start a new scale to collect. I know some of these planes will never be manufactured at the 1:72 scale therefore I have to bite the bullet.

Thanks for the pics.

Nice looking models, but just cannot see getting into another scale.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

They do look awesome and the one that I think looks the best is the "Emily", But I only collect 1/72 but they do all look very tempting.

1/72 is the MASTER scale!

To those who only collect 1:72nd or larger models, I'd suggest giving selected aircraft in this particular series closer scrutiny. Certainly, those like myself, who already have Corgi B-17s, B-24s, Lancasters, HE-111s, JU-52s, PBYs, B-25s and JU-88s in 1:72nd will be understandably reluctant to go 1:144th for the same planes. However when it comes to an Emily, Mavis, Ju-290, Piaggio P 108, SM-79, Cant Z 1007, Betty, Helen, or Short Sterling, that's another matter. The way things are going, it's not hard to imagine another 1:144th scale series that gives us a B-47, B-36, B-52, Bear and Bison, among others. I'm not going to avoid any of these---subject to reasonable quality standards---just because they aren't in my favorite scale. On the other hand, if these guys turn out a 1:144th scale series of WW I fighters, they can keep them. That's too small, even for a flexible fellow like me.

These all look pretty good and thanks for the great pics! I already have the FW-200 Condor and I like it. Wish it was in 1/72 scale though.

Re: New IXO 1:144 Scale Bomber Images

I will be getting some of these.. Is it true that the wings are now plastic to save cost???

Re: New IXO 1:144 Scale Bomber Images

That what i got in a email today:

FYI
We were just told that the wings on all the upcoming IXO 1:144th scale planes will be plastic, the reason we have been given is so that IXO can meet the same price point as the other IXO planes. This is not a stretch as we have all seen the cost of diecast rise steadily over the last few years. If you have any questions or concerns please e-mail them to me and I will forward to the Distrubutor.
Thanks Pete

Not a problem, the Corgi Halifax and others carry lots of plastic, we still rush out to buy 'em
