1:144 Range Pictures

On Mark web site has pictures/photographs of upcoming IXO 1:144 range for this year. This is exactly what we have come to know IXO/Altaya for - producing models that we will probably never see from the "major" players. Who wouldn't want a Martin PBM and Emily side-by-side on their shelves? The Italian bombers, though, are really piquing my interest.

As you probably know I and some others have been following the release of this line which has many ramifications for diecast collectors, generally. Some of my reviews and pictures are posted in the IXO section. Also coming, but not yet listed in the U.S. are Japan's Mavis, Great Britain's Hampden and Germany's Dornier Do.24...to name a few. A list of all 39 models is available on the Alyaya.fr site. it mentions the Manchester twice---an error, since one of these is obviously, the B-26.I expect to get a JU-290 and Cant Z 1007 shortly and will review them for the information of interested members.

Not to big into 1/144 scale, but might just pickup one of the Ju-290s. From the pictures it does look like a fairly nice looking model.

Almost looks like the wings on the Wellington have a bit of a droop to them.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

The wings on my Altaya Wellington were very loosely installed ( no glue? ) and are, in fact, somewhat flexible. Also, they molded the tail fins in two parts, then glued them together, producing some very rough edges. Finally, the plane is nicely detailed as to panel lines, however they omitted the bomb bay doors, which I simulated with black stripe decals.

Re: 1:144 Range Pictures

Will be looking at those sea planes, to go along with my Corgi Sunderland, A BV-222 Wiking, Martin Mariner and a Kawansh H8K2 Emily, bring on the flying boats. Hopefully its not going to be the typical IXO hit and miss.
