Ixo I 16 and model power's I 16

Hello,

I have Ixo's and Model Power I 16, they both have #11 painted on the tail is it twice the same plane? Same pilot?

I believe that both I-16's were intended to represent the same plane. According to "Flying Colors", by William Green and Gordon Swanborough, #11 was flown by Capt. Boris F. Safonov of the 72 AP of the VVS SF ( Northern Fleet Air Force ) in the Murmansk region during the summer of 1941.

This is the most famous I-16 profile out there. If my memory serves me right, the patriotic slogans were painted on this unit's birds way before it became the norm in VVS because of the British journalists arrival. Essentially, it was part of the PR campaign with the photos being printed in both, British and the US newspapers. If HM will decide to make an I-16, Safonov's scheme is a must because of instant recognizability, even if it was done (poorly) before.
