Can't call yourself a P-40 collector if you don't have an IXO. Nobody else makes a 1/72 P-40N, and it's the only long-tail!

Re: Where would the hobby be without IXO??

It's a matter of perception. If you compare the IXO P-40N to a Corgi P-40, the IXO model just does not measure up. When we compare IXO models to the level of detail and quality we have come to expect from HobbyMaster and Dragon, this P-40 looks even worse. But taken on its own merits, it isn't all that bad. It is accurately molded, the panel lines are no deeper than what other manufacturers have done, and the overall dimensions are accurate. And while the markings are also accurate, the colors of the olive drab and gray are too dark. As a base for a customizing project, this P-40N is suitable. And as some of you have so accurately pointed out in your posts, it is the only P-40N available in 1/72 scale diecast. BTW, I have three of these and they are being redone in new markings. So don't feel bad Jim - you aren't alone.

Re: Where would the hobby be without IXO??

IXO is a gap filler. Consider the Bf 110.

Corgi has announced a Bf 110C.
IXO makes a Bf 110E-1 (with extended tail cone for life raft.)
HM makes the Bf 110G2 and G4.

So if your a 110 buff, you pretty much have the entire 110 experience covered by these three manufacturers. The Corgi BoB day fighter, the IXO Eastern Front fighter/attack, the HM Defense of the Reich heavy fighter, and the HM radar night fighter.

I really like the Bf 110, so collecting is looking good. I have the IXO and first HM models (Already have pre order on next two HM Bf 110s) and I am really looking forward to what the Corgi Bf 110 will look like. Kind of curious what the price on the Corgi model might be?

HM should have all their currently listed Bf 110s out by then, should make for an interesting line up when the Corgi version comes out. It would be nice to see some pre production pictures of the Corgi model.
