Re: IXO compared to other manufacturers

I wish I had the answer Mike, the 335 is still dripping oil after six months

Maybe the slave labor had something to do with it, just like back duing the war.

Cool Re: IXO compared to other manufacturers

Man, this is the "Bouncing Betty" of hot topics on this forum. Sort of lead, follow or get the hell out of the way is a good way to handle IXOs. I checked my hanger roster and was surprised to realize I had picked up quite a few over the past two years. I think they do a passable job on their Japanese releases; the Aichi B7A2 "Grace" and N1K2 "George" are two of my favorites. I also like the Donier DO-335; the Heinkels 219 & 162A. Until I see HM's & Corgi's Bf-110s I'll stick with the IXO version. Otherwise, buy what you want and can't get anywhere else.

Mike well said, a very shrewd observation.

Re: IXO compared to other manufacturers

Thanks for all the opinions and input. I haven't seen any in person and was looking at the Japanese planes and possibly the Hellcat

Re: IXO compared to other manufacturers

I'd stay away from any of IXO's American planes as they are done far better by Hobby Master, Corgi, Dragon and others. As for the Japanese planes, I have all of them and would say that the best is the Tony, with the Oscar a close second. The Jack is OK, except for a missing Pitot tube while the George also passes muster. As for the torpedo bomber, my basic gripe concerns those painted on "bombs" under the wings. In all five cases, my Japanese IXOs needed some fixing. Two of them came with scraps of metal adhering to parts of the wing. Also, my first two Oscars had the holes for their far too small tail wheels off center, while the landing gear for the wheels up mode looked like the parts were made out of cardboard. If you are looking to expand your lineup of Japanese planes, I'd still recommend the IXOs, but you may have to live with their flaws until something better comes along.
