Re: Oily Ixos

You've got to be kidding Jim !

Are you sure it's not a scaled down version of the real thing, with a tiny engine in there just waiting to be fired up the moment the Lilliputian pilot arrives .

It could only happen to me.

Re: Oily Ixos

Oil is still coming out of the Dornier. there is a small pool forming under the model!!!!!!!!!

Maybe it has a 'engine problem' and is grounded until futher notice.

Re: Oily Ixos

Don't worry Jim because your marble count is fine. I had a small pool in each of the main wheel/tyre on my new Defiant. And my matt black nightfighter is now a sleeky gloss. I think I read somehere that gloss black was actually better and was used later in the war at night. Something to do with the reflective qualities of gloss paint. So much oil on mine that I feel like JR in Dallas!!

Re: Oily Ixos

If it came from Skunky Top Hat would the viscous residue not have black and white stripes? Bet the Skunkmeister has that new Corgi P-51 on his Santa list

Re: Oily Ixos

It was jim's description of the fluid as "evil smelling" that convinced me Skunky was involved, somehow.

I've been to Skunky's room and he has loads of Corgi P-51 posters tacked up on his walls.....

Know I am worried , that little critter seems to have access to all my stuff including my private life!

Do you reckon he is in denial about Corgi Stangs?
I bet he was a closet full of em!

Re: Oily Ixos

Good old IXO,

I just opened my newly delivered Hs 129, you know, the one you lot talked me into getting.

No wonder the oil prices are going through the roof.

Yet again I have a model that is soaked ,yes soaked in oil.
The plane is covered in the stuff and the clear plastic packaging is also covered in the stuff.

I am not exaggerating , the whole model is covered and a pool of oil is already forming under the stand,

This is a real puzzle because obviously the oil must get in there after the painting process but why?

Do IXO use Zinc that goes rusty so they feel the need to coat them in oil.

Can anyone explain ????????????????????

OH btw, despite the oil, as usual you gentlemen are correct, this is a nice model definitely one of IXOs better offerings.
I am very happy with it.
Shame the gun can't be put on because of the stand.

Later tonight , me and the IXO are going to have a bath.

God Bless America.

Re: Oily Ixos

I have only one IXO model that had the oily issue. Has anyone ever figure out what is up with this oil thing. Could they be going for a realistic feature of their models actually needed a catch pan underneath them.

Its really strange CC, I dont exaggerate when I say its soaked. I would say that there must be a teaspoonful of oil in the base of the package plus what is on and maybe in the plane.
