Anyone have the IXO Henschel Hs-129?

Yeah, I know....I know!!!
Ok, here's another one of my annoying "give me your feedback" questions, and this time I'd like to hear from you who
have the IXO Henschel Hs-129. Thanx.

Btw, in my quest to own the other Luftwaffe planes that may never be made by other manufacturers, I just wanted
to publicly thank PappyB for working out a trade to acquire the following IXO diecasts for my collection.
Heinkel He-219A-7 "Uhu" Night Fighter and Dornier DO 335A-1 "Pfeil

I've got it and like it a lot. IMHO it's the best german plane in the IXO/Altaya series.

I have one as well, haven't displayed it yet, but have had it out to examine. Nice bird, for the price, I recommend getting it.

Re: Anyone have the IXO Henschel Hs-129?

I also have this model and I like it overall. You can't have the 4 gun-rack on the bottom if you have the plane displayed in flight of course. Also the color of the bombs as well as the guns in the gun-rack are not supposed to be 'light blue' of course but black. So that is what I did, paint them black. The gun rack guns are hard to paint but look great if done right. Also a tail swazi is a must too!

Re: Anyone have the IXO Henschel Hs-129?

I picked this up last year with the HE-219 & Dornier. It is worth picking up if you use the same assessment criterion as the rest of the IXO range. The Henschel is far better than the ME-110 which lacks detail and Dornier is toylike IMHO. The detail includes the exterior gunsight and the ventral gun pack and an excellent paint scheme.
It will fill a gap like the Skua, Defiant, and Beaufighter in your collection. Pull the trigger on this one as it is good value for money.

I also have the Hs129 and, as with the Do335 & Me110, I like it - undercart a little flimsy but not a major problem: Recommended

Re: Anyone have the IXO Henschel Hs-129?

I also have one of these models. For an IXO, I quess it is not too bad. However, there are problems. Aside from those already mentioned, the upper surface paint scheme, which is supposed to be of the "splinter" variety, is part splinter, part meandering lines. As on most IXOs, the insignia, lettering, etc are oversized. This is particularly evident with the upper wing crosses. Also they have molded the wheel well doors open so forget about the "wheels-up" option. Except for the latter problem, I have made the appropriate corrections and my HS-129 now sits proudly on display next to various BF-109s, FW-190s, HE-111s, etc.

I have one too and like it quite a bit. Like MikeB, I also painted the guns and bombs the correct color which makes a big difference. The landing gear also required a dot of white glue to keep in place. Overall a nice plane to have in the collection.

Re: Anyone have the IXO Henschel Hs-129?

Hey there.

I would love this bird except for the gear option. The gear doors are moulded down which is a killer for me. Some IXO's are like that, some are not. If you want to display the bird gear down, she is a fine addition. If you want the option, forget it.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Anyone have the IXO Henschel Hs-129?

Again, thanks to all with your relevant feedback/suggestions. Mike, I will do the same per your recommendations and make all the necessary corrections when I receive my copy as well.
I don't mind displaying my aircraft in flight w/gear down at all however, as one of you suggested about the 4 gun-rack on the bottom being in the way during flight, I may have to come up
with some sort of 'work-around' solution for this to work in my favor of course!
