Thumbs up Re: Your thoughts on the Dornier DO 335A-1 Pfeil

Very good, guys! That's what I'd like to hear/read and pretty much concur with the sentiments -- "No one else will make this XXX". So thanks again
with all your feedback. I'm gonna work out some "swap" deal with our esteemed member PappyB on this one.

I got it and I love it. Got some real heft to it, and it looks darn good for the price then of $24.00, I am guessing the new one will be more like $28.00 and plan on adding it as well.

Lets face it no one else is doing this model anytime soon, and even if they do, theres will have issues as well.

I like it and like you all agree, no-one else will make it. When mine arrived though something looked odd about it. The wings and fuselage weren't properly attached. After clipping it back in place all was fine. It's an IXO. Happiness.

I have one and really like it it really adds alot to my Axis collection. My langing gear works fine and I added swazis for a more realistic look. I did some tiny detailing and it is just a big hefty mean looking pusher.

It's okay -- "for an IXO", one of their better efforts I think. Though, I'm by no means an expert on the plane.

That said, I'm open to trading mine if you've got anything to get rid of

Just a small point, you have installed the propellers the wrong way round. The longer/sharper on should be at the back.

Re: Your thoughts on the Dornier DO 335A-1 Pfeil

Personally, I like it and don't believe the colours are excessively off the mark. My example also fitted together well and had a better finish than a number of AA Corgi aircraft that I've bought in the past. A good piece of diecast that is a worthy addition to any collection.

The brown camo should have in fact been grey - if you don't consider that to be excessively off the mark, then great ;-) But glad you like the model - I certainly won't be getting rid of mine in the near future, problems or no problems!!!

Re: Your thoughts on the Dornier DO 335A-1 Pfeil

According to some sources the brown color on IXO's rendition of the DO-335 should be a darker brown ( RLM 82 ), however many contend that it was a black green (RLM 71 ). In any event I have one in my collection, as others have noted, primarily for its novelty.

Re: Your thoughts on the Dornier DO 335A-1 Pfeil

This is the way the Do-335 came out when it was restored by Dornier in the early '80.

Here before the restoration:

Here is a very serious study of Do-335 camo colors:

And Altaya/IXO probably used this picture, with a further color shift:

Hey thanks for the You Tube link, ace! That's one cool footage. Was that a P-51 Mustang chase plane in the background? I'm seeing things again!
