Re: IXO F2A Buffalo

Leaving off the national insignia is a fairly major ommission in my books! We slam Corgi for minor errors in accuracy - but accept this from Ixo? I don't get it?

Got my IXO Buffalo earlier this week and am quite pleased with it. Fairly hefty bit of diecast. Pity it doesn't have the Finnish insignia though.

I would think it is that we have come to the point that we do not expect much from IXO. They cost less, there mold quality is hit or miss, mainly miss P-38 for example, and the panel lines are, well we won't go there. Plus they do not put the swastika on there models also . Its a case that we generally get good quality from Corgi and a few other players and we know it, and a few others we don't and we accept it because they make stuff that no one else has yet, and we want to fill in the holes in the collection. I have 6 IXO's left in my collection 3 German , 2 Jappanese, and 1 Russian, if the other manufactures (Corgi, GA, HM, Dragon, Witty) come out with these molds they will be gone in a heart beat.

Re: IXO F2A Buffalo

Yes, as Kabelace says, it's all expectation management.

The only IXOs I have are those that I believe will never be done by any other company: Do-335, Dewoitine 520, Bloch-152, Ms-406, He-162, etc... Plus a couple that might some day appear but I thought I'd get considering the cheap prices of IXOs: Me-110, Beaufighter, Yak-3. Other than that I don't bother.

Of course, in the case of the Buffalo, there no question in MY mind I want one of the HM 1/48 scale versions. More expensive, but after seeing pictures, no comparisson possible!

And that's exactly my line of reasoning as well, that's why I bought ALL the IXO Japanese fighter planes and could care less about what others may say. If I like what I see - I buy what I like/want.

Well said. Although in my case I went with Marushin for the Japanese planes, since I lean towards 1/48 when possible. But I've been eyeing a couple of the IXO ones anyway...

On April 4, 2007 I posted my views about comparing models. I that case: F2A Buffalo v. F-14. I thought the IXO F2A was well done, an 8 out of 10. As a result a number of you asked for photographic proof. Here goes-this is my very first attempt.

Thumbs up Re: IXO F2A Buffalo

After numerous attempts and many wasted hours I finally got the text and a photograph of the IXO F2A together. The original idea was to compare issues from different manufacturers against the Century Wings F-14. See my April 22 post for first attempt at image posting.
