| Recieved some new IXO today! Today I received a treat in the mail. some new IXO 1/72 scale Japanese aircraft. If you collect these then you know that besides the Zero Japanese Diecast planes are hard to come by... enjoy! A Ki-61 Tony, awesome plane and I've been waiting for a decent diecast (or any diecast) of this one. Probably my favorite of the Japanese IXO planes. ![]() A nice Ki-84! ![]() My very own George, I've seen a real one next to a FG1 Corsair at the local airplane museum! ![]() B7A Grace, an awesome looking plane but where is the B5N Kate! The panel lines are a little too extreme on this model otherwise it's an awesome looking bird. ![]() last but not least, the plucky KI-42 Oscar! ![]() Now I just have to find a place on the shelves for these! | Re: Recieved some new IXO today! Arrrrgh............... I have a love/hate (90%/10%) relationship with this forum. I'd been debating whether to order the IXO KI-84 and LA-7. These photos/comments "pushed" me to "pull the trigger" on those models as well as the N1K2 Shiden-Kai. (I ordered them just before I typed this post.) Please remind me again why I won't be disapointed (as I was on the IXO mosquito and P-38)... | |||||||||||||

Can't help you with the LA-7 as I don't have one - Russian planes just are not my thing. As to the KI-84 it is a beautiful model. The panel lines are inked but since the plane is dark green, its hard to complain. Overall dimensions, shape and markings are accurate. Had a 1/72 scale Tamiya kit a few years back and it matches this model to a T. Would have preferred a different "splotched" scheme but this one is nice. Go ahead a get it - you won't be sorry.

I hear ya, DADoser... but I think you'll like 'em. The La-7's a nice little model "for an IXO" here's a link to pics of mine w/comment http://www.diecastace.com/review_ixo_la7.html Ditto on the Frank http://www.diecastace.com/review_ixo_frank1.html That said, I really do think I'm done with IXO -- going to hope someone else gets on the Japanese plane bandwagon at some point (HM please!)

| Re: Recieved some new IXO today! I'll concur with Pappy on the LA-7. It's a nice little model as long as you avoid scrutinizing it too closely. The landing gear look flimsy and too long, the blue paint on the undersides is a bit garish, but then again who else is going to make one of these little Russian fighters? If you can find it relatively cheap, I'd go ahead and grab it. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Recieved some new IXO today! DADoser, You will love the IXO's you have on order. IXO is the only player that will make these birds and the ones you ordered are amoungst their best. The previous two you picked up are amoungst their worst. When IXO blows it, they blow is big time. The winners look really nice in the display case. | |||||||||||||

I have 4 Soviet aircraft in my hanger: the IXO Yak-3, which is an absolute disgrace; an Easy Model Yak-3 which is surprisingly well done; an Easy Model Mig-3, which is OK, but I have nothing to compare it with and the IXO La-7, which except for the ugly blue underside, passes muster as long as you view it from a short distance. I don't think you'll be disappointed in the La-7 if you don't count too many rivets. I have all the IXO Japanese releases except one, and I think IXO has done a really nice on those issues.

| Re: Recieved some new IXO today! buckaroo, those are the most beautiful pictures you've taken of all your Japanese warplanes by IXO, well done buddy and thanks! I'm just awaiting my B7A Grace to arrive tomorrow, and I'll be all set. I will also recommend the 'Jack' Raiden fighter - when you find one! I hope IXO will do more japanese fighters like the Nakajima Ki-44 Tojo. I would also like to see that pusher prop type experimental fighter which escapes my memory at the moment. | |||||||||||||
