Shipping is a pain . The pain in Spain is mainly shipping costs of plane. Oh dear!

It sounded like you were teaching Eliza (a My Fair Lady character) some new phrases to utter there, professor?

Post Re: listing all Ixo releases...here with photos

What are the world war one fighters that ixo are making then

They are part of the "Mythic Biplanes" collection distributed by Planeta-DeAgostini. DeAgostini and Altaya seem to be companies from the same editorial group but these models are definitely not a continuation of the Altaya range. IXO has made no announcement indicating that they will distribute them.

This series is about multiplanes (there are at least two triplanes on the collection) and not all about WW I. The Stearman, Henschel HS-123 and Polikarpov I-15 are not WW I fighters.

Re: listing all Ixo releases...here with photos

I asked the Altaya dealer I purchase most of my IXO/Altaya planes thru about his take on ceasing of manufacturing :

wish I had a crystal ball to answer to your question. The facts, as of today, are that Altaya, in France, is extending the "Avions de combat de la 2ème Guerre mondiale" series with ten repaints of original castings. The first (#51) is the Curtiss P-40N Kittyhawk Mk IV in dessert camo. This first repaint is already being sold in France and I will have my first batch available within the next 2-3 weeks.

Strangely enough this repaints are not available in Spain at this time.

I have read some of those wild speculations about IXO making four engined bombers and other stuff. I personally think these rumors are just that. There are some vendors out there that are still advertising IXO releases based on the original Altaya list that was published back in October of 2004, and superseded four times until the final list was published in January of 2006, like they are current future releases.

These pieces of misinformation cause a lot of misplaced expectations on collectors. Models like the Me-163, Nakajima B6N2 Tenzan, Reggiane 2005 Sagittario, Me-108, Me-210/410 and He-112 have been out of Altaya's list for more than a year.

Altaya is a publisher and their target market is for stuff that sells at about 10 Euros ($13.00) so I don't see them selling any four engined bombers in 1/72nd scale! unless they are sold as kits to be acquired over several installments as they do with their radio control kits and large scale models (1/10 scale Bleriot monoplane).

As far as what IXO's plans are, I have no idea. My guess is that they will only market the models that some publishers out of Spain are having produced in China.

And the last of the many is finally here! The new color for the Altaya Typhoon just arrived.

Altaya has announced this is the last of the current French series.

Very nice, Pulqui! Do you have any of the information on this specific plane? Squadron? Where and when it was supposed to be flying? Etc.?

Re: listing all Ixo releases...here with photos

One has to admire the attention to detail of the British ground crews in North Africa ( ? ). They actually painted the Typhoon's rockets Azure Blue (? ) to blend in with its undersurfaces. But they seem to have forgotten the landing and wing tip lights and, apparently, the letters identifying the unit and the plane. Perhaps this is a "pre- production"picture and such details will be added later. Strange, this fascination that IXO and even Corgi seem to have with Desert Air Force or maybe Italian campaign Typhoons. Assuming that their info is accurate, this is hardly a typical setting for this aircraft.

It is in the colors of the Royal Air Force (RAF) 451 Fighter Squadron attached to the Desert Air Force during 1943 at the El Daba base in Egypt.

A few Typhoons were sent to North Africa and integrated into an RAF squadron based in Egypt to verify the performance of new sand filters and for weapon trials under the harsh desert environment. EJ906 was one of these very few aircraft that did not carry the typical call letters painted on the fuselage sides due to security reasons.

Re: listing all Ixo releases...here with photos

Folks, I am curious about something so I hope anyone could shed some light on this? I stumbled onto this old thread at the DAF.

http://forums.diecast-aviation.eu/showthread.php?t=1905

In the first post, it lists all of the Altaya moulds that would've been produced and this one in particular captured my attention:

Nakajima B6N2 Tenzan Japan
http://www.compass.dircon.co.uk/Tenzan.htm

I'm somewhat aware that Altaya Co. in Spain had already ceased in producing anymore diecasts, but I'm still wondering if there
might be the possibility that the model above may have been produced but never released? Their Japanese warbirds are really
very nice and well made, and I did make an effort to own all that was produced. Hate to miss out on that particular diecast above!

Does know anyone know or have any info? Thanks.
