Re: Altaya collection not finished

You may recall that this collection was available in UK, with English magazines up to #6, when the pulled it.
To complete the 60 I have magazines in Portuguese, Spanish & French, as Cruver says the drawings of various
planes and the photos in the little magazines are very nice.

You can see the style of the magazine here (on page 7) http://www.altaya.fr/uploads/numeros_0/101_01.pdf

Re: Altaya collection not finished

Last one (already available in France) is #60 A Hawker Typhoon

The 1/72 Arado 234 is available as a freebie when you subscribe to the 1/144 Bomber collection.

Horrido!

I built this in a 1/72 scale and is very nice. Altaya is comming out with the Ar-234 in 1/144, way too small in my opinion and not much bigger than a Me-262. In 1/72 scale it would be a winner.

The Altaya Ar-234 will be in 1/72 scale! Those announcements that mentioned 1/144 scale are all bogus. Its seems that IXO will release the subscriber premium that was announced by Altaya in Europe for those collectors that take a mail order subscription to the complete 1/144 bomber series. They will also get a 1/72 scale V-1 and a 1/72 scale Apache helicopter.

So they will have a 1:72nd line out this year is what your saying?

Re: Altaya collection not finished

No, those 3 1/72 items are freebies when you subscribe to the 1/144 bomber collection - see for yourself here:

Bombarderos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial

Altaya / DeAgostini sometimes sell off excess numbers of the collections and free gifts in the particular countries
that released the collections in the first place.

Though I suppose there is a possibility of them becoming IXO releases in due course, but this is never a certainty.

There's a lot of confusion about the scale of the Arado 234. Diecast Direct, the former U.S. distributor, informed me that its scale would be 1:144, however, information on another thread coming from the new distributor, indicates it will be 1:97---all of which seems very strange considering the listing of the special offer on Altaya's website, which describes the Arado as a:72nd scale model.

Re: Altaya collection not finished

No confusion whatsoever, the company that makes and gives away the models - check their French, Portugeuse and Spanish websites states that the free models are 1/72, I would tend to disregard people who have no part in it. Besides which they actually are 1/72 scale when you look at them.

Was it confusing when they gave away 1/32 figures with the 1/72 WWII planes?

Diecast Direct have nothing to do with Altaya, they were the distributos for the IXO brand, which may or may not release various Altaya models (aircraft or motor vehicles) in the fullness of time.

You may be confusing the freebie Altaya / De Agostini models with past releases under the Atlas brand name (also a magazine subscription deal in the first place).
