Re: Altaya Biplanes

I understand that the Planeta DeAgostini biplane line will start out with 10 planes and more may be added. In addition to the ones already mentioned they are offering a Polikarpov I-15, which I will go for, plus a Nieuport 11, a Spad, a SE-5 and a Sopwith Triplane. These should become available via those ebay sellers some of you use with connections in Spain, Portugal and France. A few will probable show up in two or three weeks. Have fun.

Re: Altaya Biplanes

I wonder if it is the quality of the picture or do they really look so shiny and without detail?

Re: Altaya Biplanes

I have one. It is one of the better ones but still under par. More of a tourist gift shop paper weight classification. Guy wires are hot glued directly to the wing big globs of dried glue painted over. Wings too thick and very warped. Propeller is being held in (no lie) by a straight pin it sags. wheels molded solid to struts painted terribly. Over-sized pilots and out of scale tail wheels.trust me go to e-bay and look up macemundi seller sea SE5a it is terrible most sellers only show model from above and far away angle. The Polikarpov looks tempting but if you collect birds by the big boys you will be disappointed. Run away don't walk.

Thanks, Louie. I prefer my WW I aircraft in 1:48 anyway, but if there was any doubt, you confirmed my initial reaction: STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

Re: Altaya Biplanes

If this were a Hobbymaster, or Corgi list I would be pulling out my gold crowns right about now. Perhaps there is at least one aircraft that offers some redemption for the line other wise it is such a waste. Trust me with creative photography by e-bay sellers these planes look great. I own 25 diecast bi-planes in all scales I am pretty learned now.
