| Re: Altaya Biplanes There are no sellers willing to show these models from all the right angles though. The wings are too thick, the wires are huge and attached with globs of glue and the models overall are warped as if baked in an oven. They look great from a distance or from certain angles. perhaps i could be wrong and they have all the sudden had a complete qc turn-over? I had big hope for this line. Perhaps some will turn out better than others. I do truly hope so but why doesn't anyone show the planes from all angles I smell fish....................................... | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Altaya Biplanes Louie: If you want to see all the pictures you need of these planes , checkout cristiantg's store on ebay. He sells a number of the biplanes as well as other Altya-related stuff. Once you find a plane that interests you stay on that first page and scroll down until you come to a series of pictures. He's got all of the relevant views, plus you can enlarge them. | ||||||||||||||

| seems slightly in progress compared to the WWII range. I could be tempted by the Fiat CR32 and 42, as well as the Hs 123 and Ar 68. These late biplanes, notably the Fiats, had little wiring, so hopefully, they may have more or less escaped the awful treatment of other types... Some views of these models would be most appreciated. ![]() | ||||||||||||||

| Re: The paint job on these models...
The PlanetaDeAgostini website just put up a picture of the Fiat C.R. 32 in Spanish Nationalist markings. Looks interesting, although what should be green looks more like gray on my laptop screen.

| Re: Altaya Biplanes For those who are following the distribution of Altaya's new promotional biplane series---even though these models are rife with quality issues---eBay seller has posted better pictures of many of those that are now available. These include the Fiat CR-42, which looks pretty good, the Fiat CR-32, the Japanese "Pete" seaplane and others. Just find the plane you are interested in and scroll down a page or two. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Altaya Biplanes
I intend to buy the ones you listed plus the I-15. So far I haven't seen any except for some fairly decent pictures posted by ebay sellers. These tell me that there will definitely be serious QC issues, which is not surprising considering how and why these planes are being made. I plan to replace floppy props, sand down glue blobs, put in realistic machine guns, etc. and will very likely repaint the models from top to bottom, then decal them. If this isn't your bag, I would suggest caution. Of the ones listed, the one with the fewest QC issues---based on posted pics--is the Fiat CR-42. I'd try that one first, before jumping in too deep.

| Thanks, I am probably going to have a try with the CR42 too... I had also modified and repainted IXO's awful MS406, but not being too talented the result wasn't very convincing... So I stick to models, wich don't require too much DIY | ||||||||||||||

Better yet, how about some pictures to go along with the review? I'm intrigue by the F1M2 "Pete" floatplane.Update: Nevermind, I found it. Yuck! http://cgi.ebay.com/MITSUBISHI-F1M-J...QQcmdZViewItem
