Re: IXO Shipment

Hey there folks,
I'm glad to see that we have another batch of IXO's on the way.

If I recall the Tony is supposed to be one of their better moulds. I recall seeing some Skua pictures on the forum here somewhere which looked really good as well.

I seem to recall someone offering up that the Grace is a good plane for IXO. Does anyone know if you have the option of Torpedo/No Torpedo? If it does come with a torpedo, is the torpedo and bay moulded open, or do we have the option of open or closed? (I'm concerned that the bay would be moulded open similiar to their multi-engine landing gear. The moulded open gear on the planes that I have just looks way to "cheaply" done for my taste. I do understand that IXO wil be the only company doing this plane, but it really is a deal breaker for me.)

I presume the MB-162 will be a fixed/moulded gear down plane? How big will this thing be? I can't image it's going to be in a "regular" IXO box if it's really 1:72 scale?

Does anyone have any feedback on the other planes being offered? Are they both gear up and gear down planes, or fixed gear down. (I know the "general" IXO rule is multi-engine moulds have the gear moulded down.)

In general it seems that the U.S. planes are IXO's weakest and often are laughably bad. (I'm paraphrasing and summing up folks so I apologize if I'm miss representing anyone's opinions.)

Given this, has anyone seen the Buffalo? Since Hobby Master is only planning on a 1:48 scale Buffalo I'll gladly pick up an IXO is the mould and gear are passable.

Thanks folks.

Re: IXO Shipment

Why would I be bothered if somebody lifted my pictures for their own commercial use? Because they are mine, and I spent the time and effort to take them and I spent the money on the equipment necessary to take them, and I opened the blisters (and now the models cannot be resold as new, MIB) and I put the models together so I could take a decent picture that I could share with my fellow diecast junkies... and then support my addiction by selling a few models on the bay using my nice pictures. NOT for some other outfit using them to make money for themselves without my permission.

I am going through a similar situation (Skua/Diecastdirect) with On Mark International. They have lifted 12 pictures and 14 descriptions from my ebay postings and they refuse to recognize their deed.

At least Diecastdirect came out of their mistake with flying colors.

Can't speak to your other questions but I do have the Altaya version of the Grace. You have the option for fitting the torpedo or leaving it off. If it is one you can not use the stand. The bay is moulded shut as the Grace carried the torpedo externally (see this photo: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ei_torpedo.jpg).

Like all the Altaya models I have the landing gear are very weak. I haven't got around to gluing them in and until I do that the plane will not stand on its gear. Mine is stand mount right now. Haven't got around to photographing mine either.

1250ships,
RE: Grace - Thanks, that helps tremendously. For whatever reason, I had it in my head that the Grace had an internal bomb bay like the Avenger.

I can live with the hinkey gear. Yeah, it's a really poor area for IXO and I do wish they would work a little harder on their gear in general, but if the rest of the plane is up to their regular Japanese plane standards then I think she will be a winner.

Anyone have any feedback on the other aircraft coming in?

Re: IXO Shipment

I could care less, plus all the pictures I can find seem to be the tiny and lousy IXO Altaya provided pics.

Why would you care if your picture is good enough that they would want to use it. Seems it would be a compliment.

How does it affect you in any way????

Flaps

Yes, who really cares???? Unless you are selling just the pictures.

Re: IXO Shipment

guys....before this blows up in your faces take this to another thread this thread is not ours to deviate from. That said, I have alot of the Altaya/IXO's and can tell you the Tony is out of this world. Once you use a tiny bit of white glue on the gear the models stand on thier own just fine. The Grace is really nice the Tony again is a must have IMHO.

Your head is correct. The Grace has an internal bomb bay but it was only for bombs. The torpedo was carried externally with, I presume, the bomb bay empty.

I do find it odd that we got a Grace before either a Kate or Jill, both much more significant aircraft.

Re: IXO Shipment

Not to mention an Aichi "Val" dive bomber, with those beautiful elliptical wings and fixed landing gear (no worries about glueing flimsy parts here). I'm surprised none of the manufacturers, let alone Altaya/IXO has come out with one in 1:72 scale. there is a Model Power version, but it's 1:100 or something and the detail is sparse.
A Kate, Jill or Claude would be nice, too!

Re: IXO Shipment

There was mention of an MB-162 earlier, I don't believe that is correct. The plane actually coming is an MB-152, from what I understand, and the pictures I have seen of the plane. Maybe DiecastDirect can shed some light on this issue. Also what do you have to say about the MB-62, will IXO be producing it and other larger aircraft?

Re: IXO Shipment

Just a quick note:

I sent a message to DD about the Bloche MB-162 4 prop Bomber.

It was a typo, and is actually the Bloche MB-152 single prop Fighter

I didn't think IXO did any of the heavies. Not sure why they haven't come back on to annonce the correction. I haven't checked the site, but am sure they will be changing it soon.
