IXO Stormovik

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and to diecast a/c collecting. I would first like to say thanks to all here, this forum has been a great resource.

Now, I am wondering if anyone has the IXO Sturmovik? I bought the la-7, and I am pretty happy with it. Based on all the input I have seen here, it would seem that IXO's vary greatly in quality from one to another. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Sorry, I can't help you with the IXO but I just wanted to welcome and thank you for coming in from the shadows. We look forward to your input and we're always glad to help out with any questions. I'm surprised someone hasn't already given you an answer for this plane, I'm sure they will soon. Welcome on board.

Wink Welcome to the madhouse 4313 !

Both IXO's Ilyushin 2m3 and 2m10 are among their best models.
The Il2m3 is particularly lovely. A pitty that its landing gear is totally wrong : they simply retained that of the Il2m10 !
The two variants had completely different undercarriage...

According to my own experience, IXO's Russian and French planes are good value for money. Only the Mig 3 and MS406 are a bit disappointing...

Re: IXO Stormovik

As far as I know, IXO has not yet released the Ilyushin birds. Of course, all IXO Junior aircraft are actually re-badged Altaya models, and Altaya has now completed their catalog (including the Il-2 and Il-10). You can pick up these models fairly inexpensively in Spain and France, or you can pay top dollar to other collectors to bring them into the US or UK.

Re: IXO Stormovik

Welcome to the forum ac4313.
I don't think these IXO birds are out yet here in the USA.
I may be wrong but i have not seen one yet.
But i'm sure someone here will have the Altaya one and be able to tell you about it.
Until then enjoy your stay here at the Model forum...

Thumbs up Re: IXO Stormovik

Yo ac4313! Welcome! I don't have the IL2 or IL10 but would like to have them. I've seen a pic or two and they look great although I can't comment on the detail. I get the Ixo birds as fillers for what l think no-one else will produce, quality notwithstanding. Beggars can't be choosers,

Re: IXO Stormovik

Howdy, ac4313! Welcome to da joint!

I've got both the Il-2 and the Il-10. Both are great models - I prefer the paint scheme on the Il-2 a little better. It's definitely worth the money to get it. If you display it on the stand like me, with the gear up, the incorrect landing gear won't matter.

As stated, the Altaya versions are out in Europe, but the IXO copies haven't made it out in the U.S. yet. But they will eventually.

Re: IXO Stormovik

Hi ac4313 my first post here too !

I have the European Altaya IL-2M3 and really like it. I am a great fan of this aircraft in the IL-2 flight simulator and tend to buy diecasts of planes I have flown in the sim and know well.

The wing mounted guns are plastic and a bit bent and there is the usual problem of very obvious black panel lines which is common to all Altaya/IXO planes, but other than that it is an excellent and currently unique model of this aircraft type. I have it set up on the stand with gear up so the minor undercarriage faults don't concern me.

It sits next to my Altaya Polikarpov I-16 which it dwarfs and is quite a big model for the 1:72 scale. If I get a chance tonight I may post up some detailed pics.

Cheers
mbv

Very good mbv. Look forward to your pics. The IL2 has been a favorite since I was a kid!

Welcome to the forum MBV and can't wait to see the pics of this bird.
I have heard about them but never seen a diecast one.
Enjoy your stay here at the Model Hangar.
